Because people are fed up with a federal government that is incapable of perform any task no matter how simple. Its also reflected in the polls, about 1/3 of americans are considering voting thrid partyy or independent. I dont believ the disatisfaction is either a Democrat or GOP problem, its the whole institution.

It is a reflection of people's aggravation with Congress's inability to stop the war and bring Bush and his cronies to account for the mess they have created here and abroad. We did the right thing voting them in, the only problem is we didn't vote enough of them in to override vetoes. This effectively neuters both Congress and the President. They are at a stalemate, with the advantage going to the President. Maybe that oversight will be corrected in '08.
An aside to Jeremiah, above: Unfortunately, there aren't enough votes to override the inevitable veto Bush will give the bill to start withdrawing troops. As I said, Congress and the President are at a technical stalemate, with the advantage going to Bush.

Because nobody knows who's in Congress. Think about it, only 1 in 4 Americans know who Nancy Pelosi is, and only 1 in 7 know who Reid is. How can you support someone when you don't know who they are???
Also, I think they were pressured to preform miracles. People see them as being in office since forever, but they've only been in power 8 months. They're wanting miracles in 8 months. Hell, George Bush couldn't **** it up in that time, so how are we to fix it in that time or less???
Keep faith in them. They're doing EXACTLY what they said they would do. Don't forget, the House drew up a withdraw bill last week. If Bush vetoes this, I know there's damn well enough votes to make it pass.

They are usually lower than the President's. Plus there has been little change due to the rather small majority and the current administration doing everything in its power to either veto or find the loops in the checks and balances.

Because they took impeachment off the table.
Congress had higher approval ratings when they were opposing Bush.

gee where do we start...
757gate
the non taxpaying territorial vote grant that just "happen" to be liberal
the jefferson bribery fiasco
we have no choice but to raise taxes
let me state this, the first hundred hours will be about restoring the "balance" of power
36000 carded requests for pork totally unrelated to the defense bill
grandstanding the soldiers for 29 million for peanut storage.
how much more of a clue of the pelosi/reid regime being out of touch do you need?

Because of the Dem control cut & run, we lost the war metality, egotism, as well as their hypocrisy. The American people do not want to lose, give in or create another 'killing field'. The majority of the public wants our military to kick *** instead of following the rules of war that our enemies do not have to follow.
IF a dem is elected pres. in 2008 & the war is still going on they, surely, will not end a war on their reign and make America look like gutless quiters, thats why they want GWB to pull out ASAP.

All the promises that were made had not happened. This is because any bill that was passed that the president did not like was vetoed and there were not enough votes to override the vetos.
