Yes it's possible, but only if the TEAM is willing to change. If other players are not willing. Or if they see Becks as an overpriced showpiece the moral will suffer. But the Galaxy are lacking a experienced crosser from the corner kick. And lacking a threat from the free kick. Becks brings this and this is something that could lift the Galaxy. But only if the entire team do there part. I could corner kick all day but if someones not there for the header..it does no good. And now teams will need to be careful during free kicks. Becks still has the ability to beat any goalie. So if he hits a few in early games it will open up fakes. But it all boils down to the entire team trying. Becks has shown and proven that time and time again with every team he's been on that he will work as hard as anyone. So why all the questioning about it know? Answer....because american fans (baseball, football, basketball) are scared of what soccer could become. If it does become as big here. Then one of these other sports must lose. So they want to see Becks fail.

Galaxy GM Lalas isn't banking that Becks will single handly change the fortunes of the team.
He has been wheeling and dealing since the season began hoping to put a team around Becks.
Carlos Pavon and Abel Xavier are two examples of this.
He has also got rid of certain players that wouldn't fit in with Beckham. See Herc Gomez
The big question that will have to asked is can Landon Dovovan and Cobi Jones will be able to work with Beckham. They have been the leaders and the faces of the Galaxy and American soccer for so long they are already overshadowed by Becks. And Becks hasn't even laced up his boots yet.
That's going to be the key for the Galaxy's season. On paper I feel they just have just as much talent as anyone in the MLS. If not more.
They will have to get used to each other FAST!

LA Galaxy will do better. What you'll find is the opposition will concentrate on stopping Beckham giving he other Galaxy players such as Donavan a lot more space to exploit.
Beckham is still the best set piece taker in the world so with giants like Abel Xavier they'll benefit from corners too.
Off the pitch - Galaxy aren't paying Beckham much money (£20k p/w - the rest is from sponsorship & TV) and they've already made a profit on merchandising and ticket sales.

David Beckham will have some impact but he will not bring the Galaxy back by himself if Donovan can pull up with him then the team will follow!! Beckham will create chances for the forwards and everyone knows what he can do on his free kicks!! the Galaxy have a tiny chance of making post season but I highly doubt but I think next year they will be the team to beat unless the Red Bulls flex some more money!! and get like Ronaldo to come or HAHA Rivaldo or Romario....hehehehehee

One single player can make the difference between a championship winning team and second place. Look at what happened to Chelsea when John Terry got injured, cost them the title maybe? I'm a Spurs fan and I believe that if we didn't have Bebatov last season we wouldn't have got into Europe. Beckham has the ability to make an impact and encourge those around him to raise their game.

He can raise the fortunes in that everyone will turn out to see him, raising takings from the gate, merchandise etc. problem is, he's not as good as he's hyped up to be and whilst he's not had to do much as much in spain, they are expecting great things of him over there. If he doesn't deliver, well then ouch! No team should rely on one player...otherwise its that player winning the matches, not the team and if he gets injured, they're back to square one.

HELL NO! David Beckham and his wife may be good looking but come on, do you really think that David could save the MLS by himself, I think not. He would need actual good players like Christiano, Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Messi to save the MLS. Im not saying that David Beckham isnt good, im just saying that hes passed his prime and that looks alone isnt gona save soccer in the USA. But I will be rooting for the Beckhams.

I think that David Beckhan will not solve things on the field, but it can boost revenues from ticket sales, merchandise. He is a marketing fenomenous and may be very important for making MLS relevant to americans and worldwide, so I think it was a great deal bringing him on board.

No, if you put Becks into a sunday football team then i'd guarentee there would be an improvement, so ok, the change at Galaxy wont be quite as drastic but sit back and watch it happen.

Since Pro Soccer isn't really relevant in the United States, I don't think it will happen. Has anyone noticed the gigantic crowds at MLS games ? The league isn't going to make it. It doesn't matter who comes to play in the league.
