Blue smoke is usually oil. (I assume it's a petrol engine rather than diesel).
The jerking a lot could be a million and one things but the oil would have to be coming from
1)worn rings/pistons/bores. The answer to this is a rebuild. Big dollars.
2)worn valve stem seals. If it only blows smoke for a bit after you accelerate away from a period of idling
3) a blown or leaking head gasket or cylinder head.

My money will be going with corrosion in the cylinder head (or a damaged head gasket) allowing oil and possibly coolant to leak into the combustion chamber. this would cause the smoke AND the jerking. I am currently experiencing this with my vehicle and the cylinder head will be coming off on Monday.
The dead giveaway on this last one is run the motor 'til it gets warm (not hot) then immediately remove all of the spark plugs and look for water on the firing end. Water here is bad news.
If you have water here then you could try AS A TEMPORARY REPAIR putting in a couple of "Seal Well" blocks. they are black rectangular and stink but they perform short term miracles. NASCARS can finish races using these little babys.
If it's worn rings and bores then you caould try adding a product called 'Moreys oil stabilizer' it also works wonders for old worn engines but won't help a head or gasket problem.

i am afraid that it does sound like your head is going bad and if that happens the car is not going to run so you need to take it to a mechanic and soon or you will not have a car good luck .

A merc dealer will tell you exactly what wrong with your car and he will charge at least £80.00 just to do that.
