If your source of truth is the Bible, then yes, the first church was NOT started in Rome, but Antioch:

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. - Acts 11:26.

If we continue in the book of Acts, Paul stated, and confirmed by the author Luke, both inspired of God, that almost as soon as the early church began grievous wolves would enter the flock:

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. - Acts 20:29.

The first diciples were called "Christians", not "catholics":

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. - Acts 2:42-47.

There was Judaism and the pagan religions. In other parts of the world Hinduism.

But as far as Christianity, no, there were no other churches.

At the time of the new Christians, the Church was not yet called Catholic. But it was the same church and functioned the same. There are non religious records of the mass being said as early as 150AD. At that time Christians were already being called cannibals because they were eating the body and blood of Christ. There is record of a solider being dispatched to investigate this claim. He reported back that the he saw no cannibalism. He states that the Christ followers would read from the scripture and share bread and wine.

So, we know that the mass was being said very early. That Christians were "eating" the body and blood of Christ as commanded, just as Catholics do today. So, no, there was no other Church before the Catholic Church.

Yes, it was just "the church." After a few hundred years the original church split into Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity.

Of course, there were many. The Jews had and still have their own religion. The ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Africans, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Siamese, Australian Aboriginals, Britons and pretty much every civilisation that has ever walked the earth had some type of Godhead and rituals. Many holy days in the Christian calendar have their roots in ancient pagan rituals.

Yes. The Christian Church was put up by the Apostles of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST in 4BC and they called the chruch THE SEVEN CHURCHES IN ASIA (now Turkey)-The Ephesus church, Smyrna Church, Pergamus Church, Thyatira Church, Sardis Church, Philadelphia Church and Laodicia Church (Revelation 1:4 up to Chapter 3). Its 1st Bishop or Chief Pastor was John (Revelation). This Christian Churches after 2,000 years became the seven mega-christian churches today like the Roman Catholic, Protestant, Anglican, Born Again, the Mormons, Jeohvah, the Fundamentalist, Scientology and Science Churches, Seventh day adventists, etc. Because these Christian churches although of one GOD, one LORD, one Spirit, one Savior, are physcially separated and they are called in the spirit as the SEVEN CHURCHES ON EARTH; on one hand, as they are united in the hand of GOD (Rev 1:20) they are called THE SEVEN CHURCHES IN THE SPIRIT as Christians in the spirit without walls of divisions and walls of hostilities. In the coming kingdom of heaven it will be called THE SEVEN CHURCES OF GOD AND OF CHRIST. THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.

What we would call a church there wasn't. There was small gatherings of believers who would get together and discuss what they had heard and learned and break bread together. They usually did this in hiding as they were considered criminals. If they had received a letter os an apostle or someone taught by them came to town they would gather together to learn of Jesus.
