If you are a Christian, and Athiests do turn out to be right, then there is NO judgment day anyway, and the same thing will happen to both Athiests and Christians upon death. However, if you are an Athiest, and God DOES turn out to be real, then are you REALLY ready for what could happen at Judgement Day?

It seems to me like you would have something to lose being an Athiest, but nothing to lose being a Christian, but I'd like to hear what you all think.

This is not an attempt to convert anybody, like was suggested on the 2nd answer, I really don't give a damn what people believe.
it is simply a question that I would like to get honest oppinions on.
If you don't like the question, then by all means IGNORE IT.

Athiests are indeed taking a gamble that they won't win.
This is something I've always wanted to hear an athiests respond to, and now that I've heard it, I have satisfied my curiosity. Leave it to an athiest to imply that by asking this question, you are condoning being a Christian soley for the fear of going to hell, when any Christian worth a $hit knows that would'nt make a true Christian. Athiests will always pick your statements apart, and take things out of context, in hopes of pursuading more Christians into losing their faith, and will create stupid drinking games in order to avoid, and down-play a valid question that scares them

They are constantly telling Christians that Christianity is self-destructive because of the time you "waste praying to a fake God", which leaves me to believe that Athiests do have a hidden agenda of some kind, or they would'nt be trying so hard to convince people of this, and would believe as they choose and leave people alone. There is nothing wrong with somebody believing what they want, but when they are hell bent on getting others to believe that way also, then you are better off not trusting them.

Being an athiest myself, I have to say that when I do die, and there happens to be a god, I personally feel like I have nothing to be scared of or unprepared for. From what I've heard about God I believe that when I die, he will be merciful. I have done nothing wrong, and nor do I plan to so why should my beliefs reflect on what happens after I die? Of course because I don't believe in a heaven or hell, I can't really imagine what either would be like.

Well in-fact there are hundreds of different depicted gods, for instants the Anglican god will say that roman Catholics are wrong and will be sent to hell, And maybe the real god hasn't bean depicted accurately so there is a 0.1%-0% chance that anyone is right about their guess. So The way i play it (Atheist) is i think that any god will be moral and undoubtedly omnipotent and thus doesn't change over time and doesn't contradict science. Therefor i have knocked out all of the religions that i have knowledge about as they all seem to have violated my rational requirements for a god to be likely and not made up. Therefor it makes since to assume that ether no god exists or a god exists who doesn't show him self or doesn't try to be personal to anyone and just hangs around in his dimensions. If that was true then he would have the requirement of getting into his heaven be "you must believe in me" he would not care, because it seems as if he doesn't care about us. Or he doesn't exist at all and therefor the situation is practically the same. So your thinking is based on basic statistics of "0.01% is better than 0%" but with out factoring in the obvious-ness that most religions are wrong and thus making their gods existents 0%. Therefore it is very logical to conclude that somewhere (as it is a guessing game) between 95% and 99.99999% that IF god does exist no one will get in if he has the requirement "you must believe in me" or if he DOESN'T then believing in god wont get me in anyway. So thus i have concluded that no matter what happens i can be extremely certain like 99.9999999999999% that my beliefs wont make a difference to my experience when im dead. So i live my life like an Atheist. I think based off of logical thinking that no omnipotent, personal god exists rather a god who doesn't care and wont affect me at anytime in my experience or he doesn't exist at all.

Well belief doesn't really work that way. When I used to go to church most people went so that they wouldn't go to h3![ and I always remember people telling me that they wouldn't go to heaven because of their motives, so if this theory is right faking Christianity doesn't help. Furthermore if Christianity is wrong and another religon is right an athiest would probably be better of than a Christian. If you were to actually use the logic from the question you'd end up practicing every religon but believing in one or none of the religions you'd practice

Devil is king . . . such a suitable title for you're Lord and saviour. Unfortunately, your master has you like the rest of the foolish damned souls fully committed to hell. I feel bad for you guys . . . so blind in you're sin. You'd rather deny God and blame Him for what's going on these days than remember that he's you're creator and He allows this death to happen to further His will? God is not the author of sin, but Satan. Maybe read the Bible for once. I'm a Christian and get sick and tired of whining people decrying God as the root of the worlds problems. When you die you're soul will be eternal. And when you're in agony in hell suffering for eternality will you ever get the truth? Im sure it'll click quickly. But too late though.

Yeah, but is there a point in saying you believe something which you really don't?

This is Pascal's Wager, and also, what about the other religions? What about Judaism and Islam, and Hinduism and Buddhism...what about their gods? IT's not just atheist/christian...

I do kind of get where you're coming from, i mean the christians probably have less to lose than the atheists, but there's not much point in people pretending to believe sometihng and hedging thier bets to save their own skins. That's no basis for a true faith.

It's true that atheists are taking a gamble. But to them, they aren't. When you tell them that they would be taking less of a gamble on believing in your religion, they won't care, after all they DONT beleive it.
Also I have to add, who is this troll who got beat answer "they must have a secret agenda" it's far to obvious a troll. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the bible says to save non beleivers not ridicule them or dismiss them as evil. But it doesn't surprise me, the far majority of Christians are not true to their religion, so don't act like the bible and beliefs make you pure, it's on you to do that, the same goes for all religions, as well as atheists.

There will be no judgement day for anyone,as it has been and gone,as for what was written in the scriptures,so my learned people go back to what ever rock you crawled from under and pull it back over your head.Or become an ostrich
and put your flamin heads back in the sand.No one is ever going to see god, christ or satan in the flesh as i am resigned
to the fact that none of them can do a flippin thing in the first place, all this hullabaloo is for the birds, and the sooner
we all come to that conclusion the better, the only other way to put it would be to say to you all to== Get your heads out of your bum and look at what life is about NOW==,if god/jesus was all seeing then why hasn't he /them stopped all the wars, poverty, and the injustices that all other people are doing to their fellow countrymen==Again it will not ever happen.

I honestly think that if an athiest were to turn to Christ, then they will be the same as Christians in the end. Like Lord Jesus says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one can come to the Father except through me." I hope that some ahtiest will turn to Christ. I hope this helps you in your walk with God!

You're (probably unknowingly) borrowing an idea that was introduced by Blaise Pascal.

The idea of "Pascal's Wager" is that to believe in God is the safe bet, because of the percieved payout to loss ratio. However, there are some criticisms of the idea.

One, it seems that if you perscribe to this idea, then you don't truly have faith because you are only believing in God to hedge your bets; that isn't really faith, that's planning.

Two, this idea presupposes that there are only two conditions: Atheism and Christianity. Where do other religions fit in? Aren't the odds skewed by their presence? What if both Atheism and Christianity are the incorrect choice?

So, no. Faith is faith, and I'm afraid that you either have it or not.
