I have a 9 month old yorkie girl. And she is the sweetest dog ever, but she doesn't bark very much. Only when she's chasing something or when she wants some people food. I know i should be thankful that she doesn't bark, but come on, she's a dog!!! So, why do you think she doesn't bark? Did you ever have the same problem?

I have 2 American Bulldogs and they do not bark at all unless someone comes to the door and even then it is 1 or 2 barks and that is it just enough to tell me someone is there.

I don't know why she doesn't bark. Maybe nothing interests her but food? Or protecting her territory?

We had a teacup yorkie, she fit in our palm when she was first weaned. But she was the yappiest dog on the planet. There was nothing we could do to shut that dog up.

Were you wanting her as protection or something? That's the only reason i can think of that you might WANT a dog to bark. If you really do desire a barking dog, it's very easy to train her to "speak."

Well, I don't have a Yorkie, but I have a toy poodle who always loves to bark. However, his mother never barks, and if she does it's on a very rare occasion. I think it just varies from dog to dog. I've owned a male dachshund before who also loved to bark and also a female rottweiler who rarely barked. So from what I've noticed, from the dogs I've owned, I think females tend to bark less.

I have a lab and she doesn't bark.. Unless there is a stranger or threat to herself or us. If she barks it gets my attention immediatly because something is wrong. some dogs just don't bark. My friend has a yorkie and I don't think she barks much either..

I have two yorkies, one male and one female. The female is very much like yours, she is very shy and doesnt bark or anything unless she feels that she or I is threatened by others, but my male is totally different, he springs off the walls. I think it varies with the dog, but I dont think it's anything to worry about.

some dogs are quieter than others. My female yaps at everything. My boy only barks when he wants something, or a greeting bark.

Be thankful you dont have a yappy dog! There are people who come here and ask how to get their dog to shut up!

Animals usually dont vocalize (in your baby's case, bark) unless they have a reason. Just like people, some are outspoken and some are quiet. Yours is obviously quiet. I wouldnt worry though. Its perfectly normal. Rare but normal :-)

She's young. You take such good care of her that there's no reason to be barking her head off. You probably also got her from a good breeder.

I have Bloodhounds. Mine rarely bark or howl.

It's not unusual. Different dogs have different personalities. Don't worry, enjoy your baby!
