This is not an easy solution to look into. You could be having problems with a pinched nerve in your back: it could be from you shoes, It could be restless leg syndrome, or it could be arthritis in the early stages.
There are so many things that could cause this.
Your going to have to see your doctor and he's going to have to run tests to see where the problems lays.
More then likely he'll start with MRI's in the lower spine, if this is O.K. then blood tests for rheumatism and arthritis, then on to circulation problems. So, you see, it could be anything.

is it like an ache, all the way through? do you notice your legs feel hot?
i had vericose veins and had to get surgury for them. one leg had the big ugly bulging veins and the other had none. not a single lump. but they both hurt.
have it checked out, there is no need for you to be in pain all the time
try laying down with your feet above your heart. that way the blood will circulate back where its supposed to be. if that gives you some relief, that may be your problem

You would be wise to visit a neurologist. You may have peripheral neuropathy which usually starts with pain in the toes and soles of the feet. You could also have vascular problems. Do you suffer from diabetes? Before visiting a neurologist it might be better if you saw an Internist. I frankly don't have much faith in Family doctors.

Pregnancy causes all sorts of problems! Leg pain is pretty common from my understanding though. I had mild cramps at night in both legs with my first, with this baby (I'm 29 weeks) I have horrible cramping, restless legs, charlie horses, you name it. . it's awful. Stretching before bed can help sometimes. Good luck to your friend!
