No, you don't lose a lot of hair when you get you're hair thinned... They take a razor and shave some off at an angle. It gives your hair more texture, and makes it less poofy. Just make sure you go somewhere where you know they do a good job...maybe somewhere your friends have gone or something. Its not going to make your hair appear "thin either" just less poofy! =) good luck!

all you do to thin your hair...

is put a ponytail with all your hair in it on the very tip top of your head and cut about five inches off and it would put layers in it and thin it

without losing length so when you do straighten it...it will look awesome and be easier to do

but if you dont like..do it yourself projects..
then no thinning doesnt take a whole lot of hair out and it just gives you a sleeker look for when you do straighten it..
and yes, you'll need a straightener

Really your results depend on how thick hair you have, if it's poofy etc. When I got my hair thinned out a while ago it got rid of alot of excess fluff. My hair looked the same except that it did not have so much poof and there was less frizz. My hair is wavy/ curly so it looked the same, but it depends on your hair type.

my stylist thins mine but it doesn't stop the frizzies.
it makes your hair thinner and not so thick if you have a lot of hair.
you won't be able to tell they even did it except when you pull it in to a pony tail and say man it's not soooo much anymore.
it all grows out again evenly

ask your stylist for suggestions on taming the frizz

i get my hair thinned out..my hairdresser just gets a razor and kind of cuts it on an angle. i have been getting my hair thinned out for awhile and i love it, i find it much easier to style and manage. you dont really lose alot of hair when you get it thinned out, i think it depends on how thinned out you actually get it.

AT FIRST IT SEEMS GREAT BUT 6 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD AND YOU START GETTING SPLIT ENDS ON THE SHORTER HAIR, THERE IS NO WAY TO TRIM IT. SO IN THE END IT MAKES YOUR HAIR LESS HEALTHY. I NEVER DO IT BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN WHAT HAPPENS TO THE POOR PEOPLE WHO'S STYLIST HAS DONE THAT TO THEM. ITS FINE FOR SHORT HAIRCUTS BUT NOT ON LONG HAIR.
