If people don't believe in god, why would they believe in what he says? I may or may not believe in god, I'm conflicted. However, I am firmly against religion and especially the Bible. I've said it before in this forum, the Bible was written by man and therefore open to man's interpretation. Anyone can write a book and say that god has spoken to them, just because it happened 2000 years ago doesn't make it true.

The title question is at least interesting. I often wonder what motivates atheists. I mean, they are supposedly going to die in a few years anyway and it will be like they were never here. So why do they care about Christians-or anything at all?

There has to be some element of eternity in them-somehow. Since the atheists seem to me to have overall more sense than the Christians, I'm glad that, as Mark Twain once said, "Heaven goes by privilege, not by merit; otherwise your dog would go in and you would stay behind".

As an atheist, I believe that there cannot possibly be an afterlife because there is no evidence to support it. Same thing with hell - no reason to believe it exists. It's written in a book. So? A lot of things are written in books, but they don't claim to be true. Being written in a book and being true are completely different things.

Do you believe everything you read? I don't know what's going to happen to me when I die and I'm okay with that. I don't need to make myself feel better about my life and the choices I make by telling myself I'll get to go to this great place where I'll be happy forever and ever so long as I do what this "God" fella tells me to. I believe in myself and my ability to live a good life and make choices based on what's right for me.

I believe in Odin, Thor, Frigga, Sif, Tyr, Heimdall, etc. Not everyone believes in your crazy monotheism.

My wife believes in the God and Goddess. And they're both a helliva lot nicer than your spiteful desert god.

I guess we just wait and see. I believe in god, but dont care to go to heaven much. hell is not an option. Ive always wanted to be here in the middle, just floating around at my leisure. besides, if everybody was directed to either heaven or hell, how come there are so many ghosts around here in the middle realm? hmmmmm

No one, I am my own god in a way. I make the rules on what I want to do with my life. Not some great being in the sky, I decide. Thus I have great freedom.
