Lets just make alcohol illegal to end DUI/vehicular homicide?

I think that would be a good idea. People shouldn't break the law, but a responsible government should make it as easy as possible to obey the law in the first place. So it's kind of stupid that we still build street legal cars that can do 150+ MPH. I think the only reason the law hasn't legally limited the top speeds on cars to 70 yet is because the computerized engine technology necessary to reliably cap a car's top speed was only relatively recently developed. And the law is *notoriously* slow at catching up with modern technology. Sure, primitive mechanical speed governors have existed since the 1970's but they're extremely prone to failure. Either they would break and fail to limit the cars speed properly, or they would break and stop the car altogether. In time, radio transmitters can be built into speed limit signs by the side of the road that send signals to your car's engine computer and limit your top speed to whatever the speed limit in that area happens to be, whether it's 70, 55, 30, etc. But there are all kinds of details that the federal government, state governments, county/local governments and private industries need to to iron out before such a system can be put into effect across the country. One thing for sure, it's going to put a lot of cops and politicians out of business when they can't ticket people for speeding anymore.

look on the bright side, most people that go over 70 end up losing control of their cars and kiss a brick wall. sure I play around, but thats me, I can handle it. besides, I have always said I want to leave this world with a BANG. lol if driving fast is gonna kill me, make it me and only me. at least I would have had fun while it lasted.

But, on an even brighter note, they should equip all new production cars with a shutdown system where all the piggys gotta do is call in the V.I.N. number and have the car shutdown. Kind of like what onstar does with their theft deturrant system. total vehicle shutdown. Just because somebody goes over 70 doesnt mean people need to make slower cars so the bacon boys can keep up. thats what they have interceptors for. I cant tell you how many times I've buried the needle past the 120 mark on the freeway. In the words of Ricky Bobby "If your not first, your last " I wanna go fast !!!

And what do you do in places where the speed limit is higher than 70?

It's been tried. The technology has been around for decades. Car manufacturers don't want to use it, and they spend too much money on politicians for the law to pass.

Better. A built-in system that slows the vehicle down slowly if they are speeding and they are directly in front of the police car (signal sent, affects everyone in front who is speeding!).

Sneaky, huh!

Too expensive. Ah well.
