Is there any kind of a general message that all JWs share when they first meet someone?

When we go to the doors we discuss a variety of Bible topics. Often we meet people who have a question such as "If God is love, why does he permit wickedness?" or "What is the purpose of life?" "Why do we see so much violence on the Earth today?" We answer such questions by means of the Bible. We also show people from the Bible how they can benefit their lives.

Here is a link to an article that discusses what Jehovah's Witnesses believe in further detail as well as the Good News Jehovah's Witnesses want you to hear.

The main massage we are trying to deliever is a warning of the end and we must let everyone know of the good news, so they will be saved and will enjoy perfect everlasting life. Everyone has a different way of presenting the Watchtower magazine or the Awake. Yes the magazines have different topics but the overall message is that.

I guess you would not answer the door if Jesus Chris came to your door also. because he commanded us to go to the people at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. we do not take of blood, that is right. even if I was not a witness, I would never take of blood. they can check it all they want and I would never take of it. we do not let our families die. there are other things that doctors can give you. I have a friend who had a bypass operation without blood and is doing great. more doctors are doing away with blood . we cannot change your religion, that is between you and Jehovah God. we take you into the bible and teach you about Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. learn what we are all about at www. watchtower.org

I have never listened to them. The two times that JW's came to my door, I politely said, "No thank you," and they thanked me back and moved on to the next house.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians who teach from the Scriptures that God's Kingdom by Christ Jesus is a real government which will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite

That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

They preach salvation by works. They try to get you to commit to their organization. However, salvation comes only through belief in Jesus Christ, something they do not understand, as they deny the deity of Christ. Works are important, but they can't save you. Only Jesus can.

That Jesus will come during WWI... wait, that passed. The 60s? Oh, crap...
I researched them in Church History about two years ago. And they left a pamphlet at my house about a year ago (I forgot to keep it). The pamphlet preached hellfire for those who did not convert to their religion. The research I found was comparing them to a cult. Off-hand, however, I can't think of what they preach.
