I would prefer we leave our troops there BUT in a PEACE KEEPING ROLE......
We sent our men and women to fight in what is a highly questionable war.....
We were part of an invlovement that lead to end of a leader's rule .. ( now there is no debate about whether or not sadam was not a bad man .. BUT HE did keep a lid on extremists)
Since the removal of that leader, there is now a power vacuum and If all troops just pull out and leave we will be leaving the nation to fall into complete and utter bloodshed( we think it's bad NOW .. wait till we are out of there)
My conscience can not allow me to think that that would be a good just to whip out troops out.
I do think though the pulling out of USA troops would be a start.. too much animosity towards and from. Our troops seem to have had more respect... given and recieved.
Thanks for a great question

it is totally up to the government of australia to make that choice. even though you are allied Americans should respect you're decision. However many people are blind and dont look at the facts that started this war in the first place. Muslim extreminism has killed MANY foreigners before the Iraq war. Iran revolution, Lebanon, Sudan, USS Cole, Kuwait invasion. The first gulf war was a complete failure because we did not instill defeat in the Iraq people. They thought they won the war. We fail in this war because we never instilled defeat. Sometimes doing that involves hard choices like back in 1945 and Hiroshima. The point of the fact is is that religious fanatics have been killing our people long before we have done anything.

Yes bring them home from Iraq but leave them in Afghanistan because that is the right thing to do whether we bring them home or not we are still going to be a target because of our support.Half the Americans don't even acknowledge that there are other troops fighting Bushs war on terror.
Maxx P ;Spain have been terrorised for years by the basques like Britain was by the IRA and nobody went to help them so why should they put their head on the chopping block just because Bush cant find Osama.
The attack in Madrid was before the war in Iraq had started just before election day and the people spoke with their vote one thing Australians have yet to do but its coming.

End our involvement in Iraq but yes step up the Afghanistan effort ! Also we should further beef up our Military, and become the eyes and ears of the US in the Asia Pacific region, we are strong enough, we should carry the responsibility of policing our own backyard. With far more vigour than our pissy foreign Affairs diplomats do especially in regards to Indonesia !

Absolutely not. What was the League of Nations? What is the United Nations? It is a theory that civilized nations of the world should be able to work together for the good of mankind and for global peace. The US can't bear the brunt of this demand. All these other countries, like Australia, Canada, Britain, Germany, Italy etc etc have a responsibility to stand shoulder to shoulder and to take on and to defeat these madmen who try to make the world live in terror.
When countries like Iran are shown to be supplying Iraqi insurgents with arms, the WORLD should come down on them. Sanctions, embargos, blockades should all be used to punish the hell out of them.
911 and the London bombings have proven that these madmen can take their reign of terror anywhere they want. We must as a world community stand against them with everything we have got. If Australia pulls their forces out, then who is next to crumble? And what will happen to us all then?

No.
Iraq still needs assistance in becoming a stable, secure nation. This cannot be acheived without the presence of international security forces. Our troop committment is an important contribution to this presence.
Furthermore, our soldiers want to go there. No one is being forced against their will. They are volunteers who are proud of their service.

If the coalition pulls out there will be civilian casualties and refugees like we have never seen. That will likely place a burden on Europe. What happens to Iraq and all its oil, does it get turned over to terrorists? Iran? etc.... While the war escalates in our absence are terrorist bases setup there because of general lawlessness, increasing the number of terrorists being exported?

Having read the holy books of Islam that they still literally believe in, my family having fled Islam in the 1950s, expecting this war for decades since, I'd have to say that it won't make any difference to Islam's goals.
You will submit to Allah. If not, then...
...you will accept extra taxes, stop practicing your religion in any way in a form of indentured servitude that doesn't end. If not, then...
...you die.
Their present idea of "religious freedom" is the right to call for the Destruction of the United States and establish an Islamic state. Since we don't allow that, we don't have religious freedom in the United States (actually, sedition is NOT against the law here, so it is allowed! They are really confused about religious freedom in Islam).
Now, or later; there, or here.
Deal with them you will.

Yes. The US government bribed you into the war with money and threats. It is an illegal and immoral war. At this point with the whole world against Bush and his war, there will be no consequences. Bring our boys home alive. And with all of their limbs. And without brain injuries. Bush is evil and the Iraq war is wrong.
fairy in the attic, you don't allow email. Don't understand that. But you need to know, daddy was against this war. it was his mother that called him every day to ask when he was going to invade Iraq. Bush Sr. was wise enough to know it was a bad idea and wrong. Mama Barbara is the ***** who encouraged it and pushed it from the first day of his presidency, even before 9/11.

Yes we should.
The consequences would be miniscule. We are such a small force anyway.
I would not object if they re-deployed to Afgahnistan. There is where the real fight on terrorism should have been finished.
But G W Bush had Daddy in his ear, and subsequently made Iraq a base for terrorists when it never was previously..
If he had just finished the job in Afgahnistan first we wouldnt have half the problems there are now.
