From what you have explained it appears to be a swollen lymph node and it may not be Cancerous. Still your or yuor friend has reasons to worry as Lump in the armpit generally turns to be Cancer. For that matter it need not be taken as not all lumps detected in the breast or armpits are cancerous. But we can not take any chances and have it checked up by an experienced Oncologist (Prefereablly surgical) immediately, followed up by mammogram, biopsy (if needed) to ensure nothing is wrong. The general symptoms of breast cancer are -

Changes in the breast that may indicate breast cancer include:

- lump or thickening in breast or ARMPIT
- changes in a nipple (thickening, pulling in, bleeding, or discharge)
- dimpled or reddened skin over the breast
- change in size or shape
- abnormality on a mammogram

Had you mentioned your age and marital status, if would have been better to give some more information.
Please do not neglect and waste time. Please see your oncologist immediately, AS CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA and we have to fight it. Best of luck-

It sounds to me like a boil. If someone shaves, and there is hair traped beneath the skin, oil and sweat develop, and like a pimple, and boil appears. It can develop into something tender, and try squeezing it. Eventually it will discharge (really nasty smell, and white), and will go away. Be sure to keep the area clean, and tell your friend to use BoilEase, you can get it practically anywhere. If I am wrong (not a doc), then check it out within the next two weeks. The ER will look at it like a minor thing if it just popped up. Call the hospital nurse, and try. You'll become a believer. Even if it is something major, they see it as your PCP's job to test and fix.

It is VERY important to have it checked. The lymph nodes under the arm drain the breast. Also, cancers of the lymphatic system (lymphoma) can be discovered like this. It is also possible that it is an infected hair follicle or something less serious, but the price of missing a cancer early is too great to just ignore it.

Please urge your friend to seek medical attention.

She should get it looked at but only as a precaution. I know someone that got underarm lumps from using antipersperant. It may be only a cyst but better safe than sorry.

I had a lump under my arm pit and the Dr. told me it was probably benign and he did surgery on it and removed it,sent it to the lab where the lad confirmed it was benign.(non-cancerous) Oh happy day.

If no longer something comes back unusual. i could say it became right into a boil, that spead into 3(comon element to ensue). I easily have seen some boils that never pus up, or ooze something, yet will bleed like hell if lanced. a minimum of he lanced it, you ought to be super. If all of it comes back common, whether it is slow to heal, get some amoxcil and which will clean up any an infection nevertheless in there.

if it gets bigger and redder than maybe she should ask her parents but if it sorta looks like a 'pimple' in her arm then she should get some Neutrogena acne body wash because 'lumps' can be caused from shaving or hormones

It might be a swollen lymph node or an ingrown hair but have the doc check to make sure.
