If you're paying cash, most places will want ID.

If you're using a credit card, they may ask for ID to verify that it is yours, but otherwise you won't need it.

Hope this helps!

Most hotels will ask you for ID whether you pay cash or credit card, I payed cash at a hotel before, and thought they won't ask for my I.D (since i'm paying cash) but they asked for it anyway, so in most cases, i don't think you can check-in without an ID.

Most hotels request a credit card/ATM bank card to hold the room or for security and Id to prove its you (School Ids will work)-you can pay cash when you leave the hotel

Cash always works. If you don't have ID, they might not be too happy about taking credit cards from an 18 year old.

Why are you 18 and running around without your ID?

the motel probably won't ask for id if it is a cheap and filthy. if you stay at just about any of the national chains you'll probably need an id.
