praise God- you are absolutely right- we need to focus on God, not man,no matter how "important" he may be or seem to be. Be careful, I had a question a couple of days ago deleted that was very similar to this- however if we are deleted for speaking truth, so be it.

I am not a Catholic so I don't give the pope the kind of adoration I believe you are speaking of. I respect him and am interested in his proclamations since I know they will be followed by millions of people. It gives me something meaningful to talk about when sharing the Bible with Catholics

Applying "Father" to men as a formalistic or religious title was forbidden by Jesus. Mt. 23:9-10 says; Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father," the heavenly One. 10. Neither be called "leaders," for your Leader is one, the Christ.

Jesus designated a spiritual leader himself... Peter. Anyway, that person created the office of the Pope by Jesus's own instructions. Roman Catholics believe the pope is the Successor of Saint Peter, also making him the Vicar of Christ.
Apparently, non-Catholics don't believe in Jesus or they wouldn't question it so much.

Really belief in One true GOD is the gist of belief. And if pope lead to this and is a senior. We should respect him. The one who does not repsect his elders is really worse than animals.
