...form over substance?

In other words, you are condemning a label, just for the sake of the word and ignoring the substance, in this case, the actual things a Witch does, which are all good things.

so many of you Christian answerers are just saying flat out that Witches are evil. Don't you see that you are doing EXACTLY what my question was giving you the opportunity to say you weren't doing, which is condemning me just because of the WORD Witch, not what I DO as a Witch. And yes there are real Witches and yes we all do good and bad, just as everyone else does, but we do not worship any devil or even believe in one. How many times do we have to tell you guys this?

There are certain things that we do that justifies us calling ourselves by this title, jsut as tehre are certain things that you do and believe as a Christian that make you a Christian. My sister, My sister.....How i do admire your persistence in this matter.

So many, and I am not referring only to the christian religion alone, but all of you that suffer from ignorance and contempt prior to investigation, really do not know what you are saying or doing, simply because you do not acknowledge our presence throughout history, nor do you acknowledge the fact that we were around long before your "religious texts" were even thought of.
How can you judge me when you know not who I am?

I am the midwife in the past who you brought your wife to for help....
I am the sage of your villages that you came to for wisdom and answers...
I am the healer of many, using only faith, intent, and herbs frome the earth
I am one of many that when your rulers and leaders sought to conquer the earth, that my leader signed a contract stating we would adopt your religion...this was done out of love for the people.......
I am one of the many that built your churches after you came upon our holy grounds and temples and defiled them and tore them down......
I am one of the many that has been falsly accused and suffered grave consequences for those lies and accusations...
I am one of the many that seek balance, peace and harmony in a world of chaos...
I am one of many that show reverence for the earth and the elements and give thanks for the bounty that we all recieve, although many are lacking of thanks.....
I am one of many that teaches love and tolerance, for any and all, not demanding that you do things our way, but having enough respect to allow you your beliefs without consequence or judgement......
I am one of the many that you still continuously condemn and pass judgement, try to convert and making false accusations, and then passing this ignorance on to your children...you must be so proud.
I am simply one of the many that desires only mutual respect, not only for ourselves, but for the earth that we live on....
I am one of the many that do not understand how some people profess to teach and preach love and understanding and then go out and engage in wars, inciting hatred and violence, simply because they do not adhere to your thoughts and practices......

I am one of many, who have accepted the state of the world today and have taken on the responsibility to do my part to make this a better world....but i am only one.... Just think, if we could seek unification and all do our part.....

Again Morgana, I do admire you for your persistence. Perhaps one day they will have a moment of clarity....

Until then, Bless Them All!

Blessed Be

Well, I'm a former Christian, so I guess I qualify to answer.

The problem is partly that many Christians do not believe there is such a thing as a good witch. But you've already gotten answers demonstrating that.

The other thing is the extent to which anyone, whether a member of some other religion or not, who is not a Christian is condemned by the most conservative Christians, and a target for proselytizing by most of the rest. To them, you are a bad person just for not being a Christian. Having the additional concept that you are worshiping the devil, or at least some pagan gods and/or goddesses, makes you eligible for condemnation as evil and perhaps even make them regret they no longer have the power to burn you at the stake without uncomfortable consequences.

Have a nice day!

Because of the Mystery Pigeon Holing Society that is everyone out there right now. People don't actually research anything they just glob it together with everything else. Witchcraft is bad. There for it must be still. It's probably cause there's too many people still scared of it. Who won't just actually ask a question or get to know the religion before they judge it. I am always happy to explain to people when they ask about my pentacle. People just haven't learned to accept it yet. They may eventually. Maybe one day Paganism and Wicca will be the main religion of the Country and Christianity and Catholicisms will be the odd man out. One can only dream.

I think that most of this comes from Christian tales and fables. Christians refuse to accept that witches can be good, because they have been programmed to make the connection between the word Witch and the general opinion.

I know that Wicca is a religion that has as much moral value as Christianity does. Okay I backtrack, MORE moral value. Yet the Christian opinion focuses on those very few witches who turn their back on Wicca and use witchcraft to cause harm?

NOTE TO ALL: TRUE WICCANS DO NOT CAUSE ANY HARM.

And it seems to be a common theme with Christians. They say that they accept others for their religions and then judge religions based on those that let the religions down.

For example here's a modern one:

Islam = Terrorist

It's unfair judgement. Just don't let it bother you.

It seems to me that the entire Christian "faith" is based on form over substance. The fact that an organized hierarchy is in place proves this, as the original message of Jesus centered around the belief that anyone could commune with their god, not just those in power (At the time there were a lot of diseased and/or disfigured Jews that were considered "unclean" and not worthy of entrance to the Kingdom of God by the Jewish leaders). Even the bible upon which so many shape their lives was not written by Jesus, nor even in his lifetime, rather the gospels were in large part written by authors who were not eyewitnesses to the events they described, and their writings were slanted to fill the needs of the new Church. As a result, a huge gulf exists between the Christ of the Christian church and the historical Jesus. My point is... Jesus Christ was a great man whose teachings had real substance, but through years of adulteration by the Church, this substance has been lost. Is it any surprise that followers of the Christian Church will condemn a person over a label, when all they've been taught stems from mistranslated stories chosen by a small group of powerful people a couple of hundred years after the death of Christ? If I believed in an afterlife, I'd say that Jesus was rolling over in his grave. Too bad... he was a wise man that was trying to make his society a better place by fighting religious persecution. Ironic, isn't it?

I think this is a nother case of pot calling kettle black - I'm expected to believe there are good Christians, yet they can't be bothered to act like they are, condemning something they know nothing about.

Double standard, away!!

Yep, condemning a label, when in reality they wouldn't know a witch from a christian from an atheist even if they tripped over them.

What do you expect a Christian to say to you? You say you are a witch and their bible says sorcery and communicating with the occult is wrong. It doesn't matter if you are a good or bad witch, the bible does not make distinction. No Christian is going to accept your practice unles they start to question their bible.

I'm a Christian . Through study I have come to see that there is really nothing evil about witchcraft. From my readings of the bible in the Greek. I think that what has been translated as witchcraft in at lease the King James version of the bible is a mistranslation. A more correct translation would be drug users.

If it leads the person to develop a better relationship with god then there is nothing wrong with it. I know a few witches and they are more tolerant and have a better relationship with god than some of the christians that I know

Wonderful question sister!
Blessings!
as for Bl3ss3dw1thL1f3-Burning Witches is murder. If you knew anything about the witch burnings you wouldn't be saying such a heinous thing. Christians like you make me that much more PROUD to be a Wiccan.

I think I'm about ready to volunteer for the position of Wiccan terrorist.

I'm busy plotting my first act of religious terror. Hmmmm, will I throw unwrapped hams through the windows of the local mosque during their calls to prayer or services? Or just paint naked pictures of women on various objects around the mosque ... which can deny a male muslim entry into Heaven if he gazes upon such an image lustfully.

Or should I conduct a black mass in the parking lot of the local christian church? Do it up right ... using a naked woman as the altar ... fun, fun, fun! Maybe slip into the confessional at the local catholic church ... forgive a few sins, give strange penances, encourage a few "OK" sins ... Or maybe go to a baptist church, sit in the front row, and masturbate while continually asking "Jesus loves me, right?" and "He forgives me for everyhing, right?" ... "I really want to stop and change ... but I just can't!" ... "Can I come back again next Sunday?"

I like the idea of sitting in a church and waiting for the offering plate to come around ... then taking all the money when it is passed to me. I could just tell them that Jesus knew of my needs, and told me personally to take whatever I need. Sit near the back if you are going to do this ... first, there is more money in the plate by this point ... and second, there is a better chance for a getaway to the parking lot ... watch out for them BIG deacons.

Maybe I should get a soap box and preach from the street corners that everyone who does not accept the Goddess will be damned and never get to go to Summerland! Accept her now, before it is too late! (Well, that's not so much a terrorist act, but what the christians do to folks, threatening others with Hell ... surely is.)

Maybe I should tell christian teenagers that unless they pray to the Goddess Prophylacta, their condoms will develop leaks, fall apart during use, and just generally not keep them from getting pregnant! And they really ought to regularly sacrifice to the Goddess Orgasma as well ... right?

The possibilities are endless! And I promise that I'll get right to it ... just as soon as I'm done praying to the Goddess Octania about the price of gasoline at my local filling station. After all, a man's got to have priorities!

(This is humor folks ... don't get bent!)
