I normally use baby carrots.. some dogs don't really care for them.. but, all of the ones i've had since I was a kid have loved them.. another trick is ice cubes..

Dog food - QUALITY dog food - is what is best for her. Don't feed her bargain-basement crap, because it would be like you eating the same TV dinner for every meal for the rest of your life. The first ingredient on the bag should be some type of meat. Dogs are carnivores, and while they also can digest vegetable material, they need meat to thrive.

You should have her on a set schedule of feedings to get her body into a regular rhythm of eating. Depending on her size, take the recommended amount of food, and then divide that by the number of feedings each day. If she's young, feed her 4-5 times per day, if she's older, 1-3 should suffice. If she doesn't finish all the food within 15 minutes of you putting it out for her, take it back up until the next time she is scheduled to eat. She will not "graze" and pick at her food this way. You aren't being mean to her by not feeding her all the time, you're not hurting her unless she's starved, which she doesn't sound to be.

If you are concerned about her health in any way, go to www.dinovite.com and try some of their food supplement. Our dogs love it and it has made them healthy, happy, and less sheddy! They have lots of interesting information on processed dog foods.

If you need to feed her tonight, the only adverse effect you might have to deal with is a 3am poop run. If you can live with that, give her a little kibble!

Some breeds are just always hungry. Labs are a good example.

Do you feed the dog once a day or twice? If only once a day, perhaps switch to twice. And since your dog is skinny, maybe you are not feeding the dog enough. Did this ever occur to you?

You don't give her age or breed, but most dogs eat twice a day with occasional treats inbetween.

You could give her a dried pig's ear to chew on as a snack - they are great because they last for a while (okay, about 10 minutes with my dog but most make them last longer) and aren't harmful. You can buy them in the supermarket or pet shop, and almost certainly at the vet's surgery. Or try a marrowbone (raw).

You should put out separate foods for her sister.
Make sure she eats her food, put babycarrots or dog meat over cubes, and leave it in a place where you know she'll eat it. Don't feed her table scraps too much. But make sure SHE eats her food.
Give her a light breakfast of cubes.
And a supper of cubes with meat or baby carrots.

Depends oh how big the dog is.

I have a black lab and feed her about a half gallon size container of dog food only once a day. She is perfect weight and size according to the vet. She never begs for food because she could go back to her bowl anytime of day to eat her food. By the next morning her food is usually finished up.
Hope that helps!
It works for me!

if she is thin, then go ahead and give her another meal. Some dogs have high metabolisms and need more to eat, or more frequent meals. 6 hours ago is a long time.

If you said your dog was obese then Id suggest carrots or green beans as a snack.
