feld One would be truth and the other NOT it can not simply depend on your religion...Jew's have the prophsies of the coming Messiah, Isaiah 53 says he will atone for sin.Christians believe Jesus is the Messiah, Muslims claim Jesus is the Messiah, But Why? What is the is the difference in the Messiah and mere prophets? Isaiah said he would aotne for sin...Chrisitians say he did atone for sin....Is The Messiah something different In Islam? Does the Qu'ran explain what this might be?

A prophet is one who could see the future & give us helpful instruction or advice based on his visions and/or dreams. A prophet does not forgive sin or act as a sacrifice (as is required) for atonement of sin. I don't know how versed you are in the OT but a spotless animal was required for atonement of sin. It had to be taken to the temple, slaughtered, it's blood sprinkled on the alter & then the High Priest had to enter into the Holy of Holies to offer up the sacrifice for redemption of sin. This was available to the Jews only. The Bible says that when Jesus Christ was sacrificed for the sins of ALL, Jew & Gentile alike, the veil to the Holy of Holies (a heavy, thick curtain separating the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple) was torn in two from the TOP to the BOTTOM. The significance there being that God Himself ripped it in two making it no longer necessary to use an animal sacrifice or a High Priest for redemption of sins. Jesus Christ became our sacrifice & He became our intercessor on that day.
Also, there have been & are many prophets but there is only one Messiah, the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Die on the cross to forgive the sins of mankind. Once again this depends on your religious persuasion !! Hebrews are still waiting for a Messiah.( Bar Mitzvah/manhood ) are traditionally held at 12 or so hoping that the boy entering manhood may be the"Chosen One". Check out "The Great Religions of the World " at your local library to get a better overview on this. Good Luck !!

Only the true Messiah would die for you, or for me, or even for Osamah Bin Laden for that matter. Have you ever thought of that? It is God's desire and therefore Jesus', that all mankind would know and love Him, accept Him, and have relationship with Him. That is everyone, not just you or me or the Pope or Billy Grahm...everyone. To God, sin is sin. I have at times prayed for people such as Saddam Hussien and Bin Laden and Ozzy Osbourne. I know that it is only through prayer and by the grace of God that I am saved.
Thanks for the chance to preach a little!

God sent Jesus as a Messiah to the Jews.
A “Messiah” for the Jews was a last chance for getting forgiveness from the tremendous sin of killing so many Prophets in the past. A Messiah was to be a Redeemer for the Jews. If they accepted him and his admonitions then God would be forgive all the Jews for all their rebellion and no curse would be sent down.
Jesus was the last Prophet sent unto the Israelites and after he was denied, Prophethood was shifted to the Ishmaelites.
In Short…… the Messiah was the last chance for the Jews before God shifts the Covenant to the First son of Abraham.
--------
Abraham was chosen to be a Great Prophet of the Creator of the Universe.
Abraham had two sons who were both to be blessed with a Holy Covenant.
The Holy Covenant are promises from The Lord of Abraham in return for taking on the responsibility to "Make Allah/God known to the World" and establishing the “comprehensive laws of God” on the Earth.
Ishmael - first son - ISLAM
Issac - second son - JUDAISM & Christianity
JUDAISM is the covenant through Isaac.
ISLAM is the covenant through Ishmael.
God sent down many Prophets to the Israelites but they would keep calling them imposters and killing them.
Finally God sent down the last Israelite Prophet who would come in a way that nobody could say he was an imposter.
He would have a miracle birth, miracle cures and a blessed speech. If the Jews believed in this last Israelite Prophet then God would forgive them, so Jesus was sent as their Messiah (redeemer, savior and uniter of the Tribes).
If the Jews believed in Jesus as their Messiah, God was going to forgive them for slaying all the Prophets in the past and save them from an Eternal curse. If they follow the admonitions of the Messiah then he would be their “savior” otherwise a curse would come on them for denying or trying to slay ANOTHER Prophet from God.
Those Jews who rejected Jesus, will be sent a False Messiah near the last days as a final chastisement after the Lord gathers them all into one small area.
Muslims have a seperate covenant through the the first son of Abraham - Ishmael .
Muslims are not dependant on a Jewish Messiah for atonement or guidance.
Muslims are independant of the historical rebellion of the children of Isaac.
Jesus was sent as a Annointed Prophet and last chance and a way of redemption for THE JEWS.
(Matt 10:5-6)--- Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions: "Don't take the road leading to other nations, and don't enter any Samaritan town. Instead, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
(Matt 15:24) He (Jesus) replied, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
(Matt 18:11) "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."
Those who rejected Jesus are still awaiting their Messiah whom Islam calls the "False Messiah" (Antichrist).

Jesus is referred to in the Qur'an as the Messiah. However, this does not make him Allah's son/Allah.
