Christians often claim that they're not obligated to follow the Old Testament. Because they are confused and their Bible is a notorious book in corruptions, man's alterations and lies, they are left with nothing but confusion and a religion of guessing.

Let us look at what Jesus said in the New Testament:

Matthew 15:1-9
1 Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,
2 "Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don't wash their hands before they eat!"
3 Jesus replied, "And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?
4 For God said, 'Honor your father and mother' and 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.'
5 But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,'
6he is not to 'honor his father' with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
7You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8 " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'"

There are few points to notice here:

1- Notice in verse 3, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for breaking the Commands of GOD Almighty.

2- In verse4, he used the cursing of parents' punishment as an example.

3- In verses 7,8 and 9, he used a quote from the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament, to further prove that they are not following the Commands of GOD Almighty.

4- Jesus clearly had a problem with them not following the punishment of death for cursing the parents. In fact, Jesus himself said:

"Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)"

"Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 'The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.' (Matthew 23:1-3)"

Here is what Paul said regarding the ruling authority:

"The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment. (1 Corinthians 2:15)"

i am a believer in Jesus Christ. very few men have done what ihave done in this generation. even as unworthy as i am. Jesus is God. because he sits on the throne of God His Father. Jesus invites all men to overcome all things and promises that WE can sit on the throne too. Jesus is God "with us". Jesus is I am. but the I am of Moses may not be the Same as the I am The Father! Peter was sent to Rome, there is no doubt but he was also jailed in rome, so that limited his ability to go into the rest of the world after that time John was exiled to patmos, he was sent also into the world, and was limited by those that followed satan. aother apostles went to asia and china. they ALL together fulfilled the command to specifically into all the world. John the beloved however still ministers today, where there is faith in the world of man, John will appear as an angel of fire, (light). unto such men as are able to receive it.

The way I see it, Jesus wasn't advocating the rule, he was using it to point out the flaw in their argument. They were trying to use the old law to condemn him so he pointed out that they didn't have the right to do so unless they could and did follow that law themselves!

I believe that the death God was speaking about in the OT was referring to eternal death...but like large groups of people are apt to do, they decided to enforce it themselves! That's why Jesus came to remove the burden of the old law and replace it with the new covenant.

...and given the way people have perverted the new one, it's only a matter of time before Jesus comes back to end all this misinterpretation once and for all time!

the bible never states that we no longer have to obey Gods commands in the old testament, in fact Jesus said, if you Love me, you will keep my commands.

What has changed is that Jesus Christ has paid the death penalty for those commands.

So, no death penalty for disobedient children, although there are days when I think about the possiblitity of holding that over my teenagers heads, just kidding.

Sigh. Where you come up with this stuff is anyone's guess. When you begin to understand or think you begin to understand the hermeneutical contrasts that Christ was setting up to show the Pharisees how wrong they were (exactly like you), then come back and try again. Until then, I'm going to take the 2 points and motor on out of here.

Did he tell them to kill their childern or are you hearing what he didn't say? Then read that Jesus did fufill the law...Why do you think Jesus paid the penalty of death? So that those under law would now be under grace. The wages of sin is death...Jesus paid the penalty of death for those who accept the atonement. We now live under grace.

Amen JayDee.

That proves Jesus was a great hypocrite.

Look how he "pretends" to be good by talking about loving the enemies and in the next chapter, he talks about sending the non-believers to be tortured for eternity.

Jesus came to FULLFILL the Mosaic Law. Once fullfilled, it was null and void.
