Paul wrote thousands of words about Christianity, yet in none of them did he mention specific details about the life, teachings, family, of Jesus. Not even details about his supposed death on the cross and resurrection. Paul seems quite ignorant when it comes to details. Why is that?

Nope, but the name Earl Doherty does ring a few bells. :p. As for Acts, that wasn't written by Paul, and has been dated by scholars as being written in the second century. Oh and by the way, this contradicts what every single one of the rest of the Christian answerers here has said.

Because everything Paul aka Saul/Sol knew of Jesus/Yeshua he got off Peter aka "The Rock" (aka Mr. Stubborn Pants, you know, the bloke who denied Christ 3 times, all that jazz)
He also spoke out bitterly against women and that could have been flavored by Peter's jealousy of Mary Magdalene's relationship with Jesus OR could have been flavored by his own bitterness towards women based on his own experience - we have no way of really knowing - the best way to learn, however, is by reading what we DO have, the Bible, the Gnostic Gospels, and going from there - make your own choice - but if you read what he writes, you will read about how he came to follow Peter and then become such a passionate convert, himself - keep in mind as well that he was one of the VERY few who were among the "close personal friends" who hadn't yet been martyred of Jesus (as far as we know) who had wanted to go out and preach "the word" to the Gentiles - aka - all of us non-Jewish types.......I highly suggest you read the Gnostic gospels if you want to delve deeper into what the Catholic church doesn't want you to know but may well be the closest to the actual "words" and teachings of "Yeshua" the man himself, not a God-like figure, but the man and those who were touched by him. Pretty fascinating stuff, really - not that it's made me change teams ;) (proud Pagan, the Bible/Gospels only serve to strengthen this) but still....fascinating......

Paul does speak about the death, burial, and resurrection, but one must understand that when Paul wrote, he wrote to the Church. They should already have know about these things. In addition, Paul wrote about what he personally knew. Since, he was not there, as one born out of time, he did not write about it. If you truly what to know whether or not Paul wrote about Jesus , I suggest getting a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. This way you can search it for yourself and you won't have to take anyone's word on it.

good luck.

Paul did not know Jesus during his earthly ministry. However, Jesus is mentioned often by Paul. In Romans paul directly or indirectly mentions the cross, the ressurection, and salvation often, but to answer your question, Paul only spoke of what he knew, not what other's knew. He was brought to Jesus after Jesus had already risen, so Paul spoke of more theological issues, concerning salvation and christian living.

Trevor,
The Apostle Paul was also called "Saul". He did not spend time with Christ as the other Apostles had done. He was actually persecuting Christians when he was blinded and spoken to by Jesus who had already arisen into Heaven. He immediately was baptized and went to the Temple to preach Jesus afterwards. He had some knowledge of Christ but it was NOT firsthand knowledge as in the Gospel's Account. Have a nice day.
Thanks,
Eds

Name of saint Paul was Saul. He was employed in Roman government and was a great enemy of Jesus and his follower during his life. After ascension of Jesus he saw some vision or dream about christianity and propagated his ideas. He knew very little aobut Jesus during his life on earth.

You are wrong.

1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Co 11:24 and giving thanks, He broke and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken on behalf of you; this do in remembrance of Me.
1Co 11:25 In the same way the cup also, after supping, saying, This cup is the New Covenant in My blood; as often as you drink, do this in remembrance of Me.

He also mentions often the death and resurrection of Christ.

their are a few things to remember when asking questions . who when why? Paul's letters are not written to non believers, the are written to Christians, If you knew how to drive a car would I write you a letter explaining to you what the pedals are for. I might write to you on how to fix the car but not how to drive it. Paul had no need to reexplain what was already known. the Gospel was already there and well understood.

Because Paul never knew Jesus personally. Those who did know Him and spent time in His company were in a better position to provide details of His life.

Does the name Ed Doherty mean anything to you? lol

You see, people who say that just don't know what the Bible says. It's so obvious, I can't believe that they would say such a thing. I know where Paul talks about Jesus and the life of Jesus. If I show where it is, and show the text of it, what would someone who said that say? Will they try to cover it up? Would they ignore it?

Here it is, I was reading it just today!

DUDE! Read Acts 13

Verse 16 says that Paul was speaking. Verses 23 through 41 he talks about Jesus, including the time BEFORE the crucifixion.

23 "From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. 24 Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel. 25 As John was completing his work, he said: 'Who do you think I am? I am not that one. No, but he is coming after me, whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.'

26 "Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.
28 Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.

32 "We tell you the good news: What God promised our fathers 33 he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm:
" 'You are my Son;
today I have become your Father.[b]'[c] 34 The fact that God raised him from the dead, never to decay, is stated in these words:
" 'I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.'[d] 35So it is stated elsewhere:
" 'You will not let your Holy One see decay.'[e]

36"For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. 37But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.

38"Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses. 40Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:
41" 'Look, you scoffers,
wonder and perish,
for I am going to do something in your days
that you would never believe,
even if someone told you.'[f]"

So what you asked simply isn't true!

EDIT: Luke wrote Acts as a defense for Paul for the trial that Paul was facing in Rome, Paul being a Roman citizen.

But then, you just want to listen to Ed Doherty and I've proven him wrong before. / ;

Paul was a self-appointed apostle who never met Jesus. And the reason he never wrote about Jesus' life is because he knew very little about him or his teachings. If you read his stuff it's the gospel according to Paul, not anyone else. He wasn't even recognized by the early church as an apostle.
