It's proven to be good for your mental health man. God wants you to take good care of your body, and this does not exclude mental health. You could be doing much worse things with your time. If you don't masturbate your sperm will just come out in a wet dream anyway, so it really doesn't matter. (I think it can also help prevent cancer in the testes?)
In response to those who think masturbating is wasting your "seed", this is utterly incorrect. Sperm die whether you want them to or not, and are produced anew. Would God rather have each individual sperm impregnate a woman, giving you millions of kids? Don't think so. (This is impossible as you most likely know, anyway)

masturbation and adultery are definitely not in the same league. Adultery is clearly listed in the 10 commandments as being really naughty while masturbation is not even given honourable mention. So, from a religious perspective there is no prohibition on masturbation at all. Sure some people interpret a few biblical passages as opposing masturbation but those passages are not about masturbation and the misinterpretations are merely reflectring the opinions of man not th elaws of god.
So, masturbate as often as you please and forget the so-called religious guilt tripping thing since only the people running religions oppose masturbation; god doesn't.

my opinion on this subject is that the church's stand on it, was good in the beggining. In the early years of man, humans were probably extremely fasinated by having the ability to give themselves pleasure in the midst of so much work and hardship. Diseases, high mortality rates, finding food; life was not an easy thing to get through back then. So i'm guessing many people (mostly men probably) used this new discovery to help them forget about al of their troubles and difficulties. But I think some people might have taken it too far. Masturbating all the time, skipping out on work, social lives, and helping out their fellow man. Till eventually it became a problem and organized religeons got together and decided that the only way to stop this major distraction was to tell the people that masturbation is a sin and a form of adutery. Then things probably went back to normal and the people worked more efficiently and stayed on track. But nowadays we dont have to toil as much, and masturbation isnt as much of a last refuge for happiness as it used to be. Its less easier for it to become a problem in people's lives. Sometimes it might just relieve sexual tension or provide a form of exploration for those who are unsure about their body. I can see where christians see it as adultery, but its only in your head really. I think of it more as a prevention against adultery. If you've already gotten those urges out of your system in your mind, then you're going to be less tempted to actually committ an act of adultery in real life. I think masturbation is ok as long as it doesnt become a problem and it starts keeping you from the important things in your life. As for alternatives to it, thats easy. Just do the things you like, that make you happy. If you feel the strong urge to do it, but dont want to, just tell yourself "I dont have to do this, its not going to kill me, and I have enough control over my body to keep myself from doing this if I dont want to". Becase in reality you do, you don't have to masturbate to stay alive. Now, the previous explanation is purely speculation but I hope it offers some insight into the reason why masturbation is a sin or not. In my opinion, if God thought it was a really bad thing to do, He wouldnt make it possible to do without some corrective after-effects or punishments that stemmed from masturbating. I hope this helps

Learning Self-Control
Young Shanda raises an important question, “Why would God give young people sexual desires, knowing that they should not use them until after marriage?” It is true that sexual desires can be particularly strong during “the bloom of youth.” (1 Corinthians 7:36) In fact, teenagers may experience sudden sexual arousal for no seeming reason. But this is not something wicked. It is a normal part of the development of the reproductive system.%
It is also true that Jehovah designed sexual relations to be pleasurable. This was in harmony with his original purpose for humans to populate the earth. (Genesis 1:28) Nevertheless, God never intended for us to misuse our procreative powers. “Each one of you should know how to get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,” says the Bible. (1 Thessalonians 4:4) To act upon every sexual desire would be, in a sense, as foolish as hitting someone each time you felt anger.
Sexual relations are a gift from God, a gift that is to be enjoyed at the appropriate time—when one is married. How does God feel when we try to enjoy sex outside of marriage? Well, imagine that you have purchased a gift for a friend. Before you can give it to that friend, he or she steals it! Wouldn’t you be upset? Imagine, then, how God feels when a person engages in premarital sex, abusing the gift that God has provided.
What should you do about your sexual feelings? Put simply, learn to control them. Remind yourself that “Jehovah himself will not hold back anything good from those walking in faultlessness.” (Psalm 84:11) “When I find myself thinking that premarital sex would not be so bad,” says a youth named Gordon, “I reflect on the bad spiritual consequences and realize that no sin is worth the loss of my relationship with Jehovah.” Exercising self-control may not be easy. But as young Adrian reminds us, “it leaves you with a clean conscience and a good relationship with Jehovah, free to focus on the more important things, with no guilt or remorse for past actions.”—Psalm 16:11.
There are many good reasons for you to “abstain from fornication” in all its various forms. (1 Thessalonians 4:3) Admittedly, this is not always easy. A future article will address practical ways in which you can “preserve yourself chaste.”—1 Timothy 5:22.

Ok, whether you masterbate or not does not determine how faithful you are to your religion, there are far more people who claim to be christians who do far worse things, im not saying that it is good, but the least of Gods worries should consist of whether a horny person masterbates, its human nature. Honestly, and seriously, i say put that out of your mind. It isnt adultery, If you believe in god, he knows that, and masterbating is not going to compromise your religon.:)

I gave up masterbation more than two years ago with no detrimental physical effects. I can't masterbate without lusting, and lust is adultery in God's eyes, and I refuse to willfully sin against God, so I stopped. The power of the Holy Spirit has enabled me to get over it. One less temptation to worry about, praise God!

Genesis 38:9 It is displeasing to God to waste your seed.
Masturbation CAN become addictive. You need to pray daily for this urge to subside until you are married to a Christian woman and you will be blessed.

Sorry, but I don't think anyone should answer this question unless you are over 18. If you are a minor, anyone answering could be in violation of Yahoo and your parents could get really honked off.
