1] add some light and texture to the room. How does rest of the room look [ other walls ]? Any other furniture?
2] lesson one - don't paint rooms boring colors. Walls in a small room should be a light, bright color. Bedding, curtains,
and other fabrics can then be a light print.
3] lesson two - curtains are too matchy, and boring, and wrinkled.
4] lesson three - mirrors should go opposite the window, to reflect light
5] what kind of tablecloth is that? It looks plastic - great for birthday parties.
6] you don't need more light - you need more remedial decor.
OPTIONS:
1] paint walls a favorite pastel - rose, peach, banana yellow, mint, aqua, sky blue, lavender.
One of my favorite tricks is to paint the dining room either the color of the living room, or the kitchen, and then use drape or curtain material from the other room - the colors flow from
one room to next.
2] replace the curtains with lace, sheers, a small print repeated in the tablecloth or placemats [ not both at once! ]
If curtains can't be replaced, at least get some bright tiebacks that go with something else in room.
3] can mirrors be re-arranged? Put on opposite wall ; perhaps around a favorite painting, or framed poster.
4] add a long narrow piece of art on either side of window -
wall hangings, collages of family photos, floral wreaths, works of favorite artist, etc.
5] use tablecloth, or placemats in a color from a print, or a solid that complements room color. If tabletop is in good shape, leave table bare, and use a centerpiece with flowers or fruit, in a vase or pretty bowl. Add candles for dinner or company.

I would suggest turning your table the other way so that the chairs are on either side of the window, this will look bigger and more symmetrical as the rest of your decor seems to have lots of symmetry. Then I would carry the orange on to the window with some decorative tie backs, like this;

or this,

and if you can paint that would be the finishing touch, maybe a nice pistachio or celery if you like colour, if not tan like your curtains would look nice and warm up the space.
How about an area rug to anchor the table on the hardwood and a standing plant in the corner like a palm would add life.

If you want to experiment on the look of your garden, find out information about various easy to maintain plants. The Internet is a great source for this, preferably some forum or online community. As for your house, a new couch along with a coffee table should lighten up the living room considerably.

Another option is to use two different color sets of curtains. Get colors that compliment each other along with the rest of the room decor. My last house we had white walls. Rather than paint, we put offset murals (you used mirrors) on the walls and darker curtains on the outside, lighter inside. It adds a little depth to the room along with color.

The small mirrors make the walls seem busy. I would do a wooden blind - no curtains, no tablecloth, just a scarf or placemats to open up the room. Use two (one each side of the window) a long decorative mirror....hope that helps.

I would not put in the mirrors (distracting imo), i would put a floor lamp (like u suggested) on the left side and a nice painting on the right side wall. put a nice floor plant by the floor lamp. and instead of curtains, try venetian blinds (colored preferbably). Also try painting the walls a different color (earth tone) (as suggested above).

You should add a fake plants underneath the mirrors.
Or add some color.

Google the word "tatouage" - this stuff is great - I've done it & it is easy, fun, affordable & if you don't like it you can paint right over it.
