Here it is, ladies and gentlemen, the big reveal...

I am in fact an atheist. I posted a series of questions tonight parodying some of the christian fundamentalist questions that I grew so tired of.

But I also grew VERY VERY tired of the way some of my fellow atheists behave. They accuse religious people of being self righteous zealots, and call christians "idiots" amongst other things, without seeing that they themselves are in fact biggoted self righteous zealots.

These questions have been a double whammy, to show how I feel about the EGO problem in this section. You can't behave like that! Both sides are wrong!!!

I was being ironic and sarcastic, and if you read over my questions again you can say that. TO all the people who called me an idiot, I say... OWNAGE!!!

And no, the risk of hypocricy inherent in preaching self righteousness is not lost on me.

Anyway, I am an atheist, not an idiot, quite the contrary in fact. Just learn your lesson people!

i think its funnier you got 2 stars on your question:

Why do these so called "Atheists" use "science", "logic" and "common sense" when the Bible says what's right?

im guessing your attempt to act like a christian was pretty effective.

Yes, in your case it was clear that you were being ironic. But the problem with such an approach is that usually the most extreme, illogical, over the top, sardonic parody of fundamentalist thought only ends up sounding like what a lot of people around here actually believe. It will get a lot of non-ironic thumbs up and amens. There have been numerous times over the internet that I've given someone the benefit of the doubt and figured he was kidding only to discover that the statement was made in all seriousness. It's tough to parody the self-parodying.

It is fun to see people on all sides who rush to call each other idiots, fools, stupid, etc. looking foolish because they fail at reading comprehension themselves. But while I can't condone their style I can see how they can assume that even the most self-contradictory rant has been intended seriously.

After all, on a day when there are really people applauding the group of visitors to the US Senate who shouted down the "un-American" Hindu clergyman's inoffensive little prayer, how much room is there to really parody these people by saying anything more extreme than they already believe?

You know those novels that are too wordy and take forever to get on with the story sometimes...well you'd be a great author of that type...

Learn our lesson? Sure...after someone posts a drawn out post meant to provoke... I can see why you have few fellow "heathens" in your contacts/friends thing...

Not the best way to teach it, I think, but yes.

The problem is that you were mocking "Christian" thought with your own questions, and the things you said WERE, in many cases, completely idiotic. It is not arrogant to call a kettle black - merely hypocritical if you're a pot.

It's nothing personal. Just opinions. Don't set yourself up like this next time. Responsibility is on both sides. Chill and have a bud.

I'm sorry...what? I was burning some kittens with the Atheists....

Ok...but your "point" just annoyed the sh*t out of everyone. You are not going to change the views of the world by doing this. You are just promoting more hate and fighting.

There is nothing wrong with trying to provoke thought through irony as long as it's not boring and repetitive.

Um.... if you thought it was lost on me, you're quite mistaken. I starred the question of yours (and added you to my contacts) that I saw for a reason. Whatever. Don't you think this question is quite egotistical?

I don't know. It's kind of hard to pick out sarcasm over the internet.

How the Hell were we supposed to know you were joking? Many Christians DO talk like that.
