BUDS is about learning to become part of a team under extreme mental and physical pressure. BUDS is not about ego trips to impress your brother. Your attitude sucks and you don't have the heart, desire and inner fire. You would drop as soon as it got tough.

Your brother is right. Heck, with your attitude you probably would not make it through Marine boot camp, let alone BUD/s. It's not all about strength. Mental toughness plays a HUGE role in it. And since you "have no interest in becoming a SEAL" you would be ringing out inside 2-3 hrs. Also, I see you didn't mention anything about how well you swim. The SEAL's I have met all have at least one thing in common; they are men with gills. They almost feel out of place on dry land!!

NO! Yes you may be physicall fit and qualified to go to BUDs but you need to run a lot longer than a mile. That is in boots and cammies on soft sand. It's a whole different type of physical endurance. . BUDs will also test you mentally. Your mind will give out since you have no desire to be a SEAL. Why would you go through all of that abuse for something you don't want. I doubt you would make it through BUDs.

Your brother is right. An out of shape couch-potato would outlast you any given class as long as he has the desore to become a SEAL.

You would not even last the first day without ringing the bell because you don't have it mentally and emtionally, you don't have the heart to make it. How do I know that? :"I have no interest in becoming a navy seal ".

Ok then BUD/S go through harsh training before hell week and once you start the training you'll think its hell week but your not there yet. Hell week is the harshest training you will ever go through. only four hours of sleep every week. Pounding up against unforgiving rocks and not changing cloths not to mention you're freezing your *** off and running 10 miles a day. lifting up 500 lb' logs with four men. walking who knows how long under a boat.. but you don't get through training by yourself... you get through as a team. being able to pop your head up out of the water and no-one knowing you're there is pretty damn cool. if you want to know how to be prepared for BUD/S go to the Navys official website

I saw plenty of people wash out during the pipeline for CCT's that were in excellent physical condition. Any special operations training is just as much about your mental condition as it is your physical condition. Only the ones with the fire in their guts and a real desire to be a team member are gonna have what it takes to finish the training.

LOL...there is a lot more to it than lifting weights and doing sit ups. It is great that you can run "about" a mile...you need to do 1.5 in under 11 minutes to be considered to even start training (and you had better be faster then that). Not to mention the MILES you run and swim in training. I think your brother is right.

I think you could handle basic training pretty well. Beyond that I would have to express serious doubt. The tobacco use says it all, you lack the discipline, and your attitude just is not what it needs to be. Most of 'elite forces' type training is far more mental than physical.

Instead of concerning yourself with something that will not occur, why not find something to challenge you that will lead you to a positive outcome, not just to prove a hypothetical situation to your brother.

In other words, who really cares if you can or not if you have no intention of following through with it, spend your time on more productive areas.
