I heard someone say this, and other people laughed, but I didn't get it. It went something like "Your golden years are more like golden urine." What is so funny about that?

I don't get it either,
are they suggesting seniors have special urine? or that seniors are disrespected and urinated on?
either way, what the heck?
You need to avoid those people, they scare me

Well, golden years are the best years of a person's life, and that is supposed to refer to the years when the person is old. The guy who said that is obviously slamming the notion that a person's golden years are his best years--he's making fun of the fact that since old people cannot take care of themselves (hence the "urine" part--old people end up wetting their pants, and also, since the urine is golden, they are in bad health because darker yellow urine is associated with dehydration), the time when a person is old is definitely not his best years.

The joke is vulgar, but I am sure he thought it was funny. Making fun of old people isn't really funny.

I'm just guessing, but I would have taken it to mean that your golden years are not very golden.

Golden is an image of prosperity, brilliance and beauty.

Urine is golden in color but does not possess any of the qualities associated with the word "golden," which is why I think the person meant that aging is called wonderful, but it really is not.

Going by what I see with my mother, I think it means older people go to the bathroom a lot more than younger people. When ever I take my mother out anywhere, she has to go several times. I think she know the location of every public restroom in the state
