I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

I can dig it.

"catholic" isn't capitalized because it refers to the universal Church (the Body of Christ) not the Roman Catholic denomination.

People recite it. But how many people actually know or believe the doctrine of "the resurrection of the body?" What most Christians believe these days is only the immortality of the soul. But they don't know or believe in a physical, bodily resurrection.

The Apostle's Creed. In pious lore, one or 2 verses from each and every Apostle on Pentecost Sunday. located via pupils as origination sometime interior the 5th century, possibly Rome. Used for newborn's liturgies and as component of the Baptism ritual. The creed does not specifically reject any heretical perception, yet is obviously anti-pagan. The Nicene Creed, observed via the Nicene Council, 325, thoroughly rejected Arianism, via declaring that God, the Son, became of the comparable substance as God, the father. Jesus Christ is God. The Holy Spirit is acknowledged as God, yet his nature isn't elaborated on. Arius held that God the Son became a creature of God the father. The Nicene council became noted as via the jap Bishops, Rome sent representatives. The Bishop of Rome, the Pope, became too elderly and too unwell to shuttle to Nicea. The Nicene creed is recited at just about all hundreds on Sundays and weekdays.

And the following is for those Christians who have a problem with the word "catholic." I did some research for you! :)

cath·o·lic
–adjective
- universal in extent; involving all; of interest to all.
- pertaining to the whole Christian body or church.

Most Reformation and post-Reformation Churches use the term Catholic (sometimes with a lower-case c) to refer to the belief that all Christians are part of one Church, regardless of denominational divisions. It is in line with this interpretation, which applies the word "catholic"/"universal" to no one denomination, that they understand the phrase "holy catholic church" in the Apostles' Creed.

Josie - Catholic isn't capitalized because the word is used to mean all Christians. Roman Catholic is the faith.

It is a beautiful creed - no doubt.

I was raised in high church Lutheranism. I understand every syllable.

That's why I am Wiccan now. Too narrow of a path for me though I love Jesus and Luther for letting us know we can go to God directly. His great gift to religion.

No I can't. Nor can I "dig" sermons. I resisted the temptation though, to report this non-question.
