flieder... at the risk of offending you, What can't you understand about those two questions ?
or are you prepared TO behave JUST like the Islamic extremists and condemn a whole group of people.

flieder gave me the perfect example ( thanks for that by the way) ... condemning the innocent is fine, failing to face the issues and the facts is fine.. keeping one's head stuck in the sand is fine .. passing useless snide and pathetic comments is fine too ..
BUT USING ONE'S BRAIN ??? HELL NO CAN'T DO THAT NOW CAN WE??

todp..( hi btw )
I understand erring on the side of caution, But what of the 20,000 americans killed by other americans?

LeftField360-- THANK-YOU for an intelligent and well thought answer. The person who directed me to this article,( a christian US citizen) tells me this was JUST a headscarf and not the Habjib(sp)..
I understand and fully accept the need to be Identifiable .. :) but if it was as my friend said , It was JUST a headscarf with the face fully visible .. This is where things are being taken too far. My friend pointed out Greek Widows who wear headscarves to church,

abenezerscroogexxx .... I accept that you can not be too careful .. so what do you propose about being too careful re the american homocide rate ?

2007-07-14 19:00:54 · update #5

cats & dogs.... Good answer I appreciate what you and left both have written

2007-07-18 20:04:29 · update #6

NJ ... do yourself a MASSIVE favour and read the other replies...
now what I wrote is BASICALLY CLEAR .. no hidden meanings , no hidden messages..
YES TERRORISM IS VILE AND DISGUSTING AND AN ABOMINATION......nobody disputes that and quite frankly you are insulting YOUR OWN intelligence to even imply that I think otherwise. DON'T FOGET ALSO that many other nations around the world lost citizens during that event.. It WAS NOT ONLY AMERICANS who suffered.
Now .. you've had your whine re september 11th .... TELL me what DO you think of your homocide rate ...
or in your mind do you percieve the death of an american at the hands of another american MORE acceptable than the death of an american at the hands of a terrorist ..
It is the DEATH in general that concerns me NOT just how it occurred
Think about what I have actually written.

Alleninthehills...
sorry mate I am just shaking my head at you... where have I said it WASN'T and issue?
infact.. if you bother to read my replies to other people you should see I have given my opinion of terrorism...

NOW you tell me .. why to you ISN'T americans killing Americans on American soil an issue with you .. because THAT is a BIG part of my question and you totally ignored it so I can only assume you don't care . .Please let me know if you do.

I am about to select a BEST answer ... and I will welcome anybody's comments, disgruntled or still being angry at this question.

Most people understood what i was trying to say .. SOME totally ignored the discrimination innocent AMERICAN Muslims are now suffering .. How is it right to punish them in anyway ..
SOME totally ignored the homocide rate .. seems to me SOME people accept it's *OK* for americans to Kill americans .. and don't question the rate ...yet these people have been taken by loved ones.
SOME people seemed to think that because I questioned re the crime rate .. I was dismissing Terrorism .. KEEP THINKING IN THAT SQUARE BOX .. and I am SURE the world will be a better place ( NOT!!!!)

todp03.. I still understand erring on the side of caution but how can making an innocent woman remove her headscarf help that .. There are other places to conceal weaponary.
LeftField360 thank-you again for your well thought out answer, I appreciate the post.

abenezerscroogexxx well yeah I guess you can never be too cautious BUT you never came back and told me how you can be never too cautious against your own
cats & dogs. also Thank-you , you did understand .

NJ ,alleninthehills .. you guys are obviously concerned re terrorism and I really do understand that, but NOT every muslim is your enemy , heavens knows you have them serving in your armed forces and their allegiance isn't divided BUT think about them when you read articles like the one I posted.
and last AND by all means the VERY LEAST flieder me thinks you are the one that is VERY confused IF the line that YOU wrote is the best you can do in a debate/discussion .. least the guys above stated their view point, time to grow up some darl' and open those eyes and your mind .. who knows you COULD be a brilliant debater IF you bothered.

I get your point Jenny and sympathize with it.
However, Leftfield has an excellent point too.
When people are frightened they often act in a bigoted way, and its easy to put people, who are different from ourselves, into 'prejudiced' categories.
We are always talking about education being the answer to the problems of the worlds poorest citizens. Perhaps we should look closer at our own education, to see where 'we' are going wrong. We say that we deplore racism, yet we continually practice it under many other guises. We need to study and correct our own misconceptions.
Perhaps it is time for us to teach ourselves to think wisely instead of 'cleverly'.

hi jenny,

I just read the article..my guess is this woman was wearing a hijab with a veil ,the article did state it was a traditional headscarf.....if this was the case ,the person who stopped her entrance into the building was right to do so...and I am betting that anyone who would try to enter this building in a ski mask would also be stopped....if you are not identifiable they have a right to stop you....and it doesn't matter what race, religion or nationality you are.......no federal building is going to allow a person whose physical facial features cannot be distinguished inside.....it is for security reasons....

look at it like this.....Have you ever watched show on TV that feature robberies taking place and will show surveillance cameras of the robberies than they ask the public if they have any information about who the suspects might be and given a phone number to call...... on about all the tapes I have seen the robbers heads are covered with something.....making it impossible to tell what their facial features and hair looks like.....all a person pretty much has to go on is the size, type of clothing the person is wearing and maybe their gender...it makes it extremely hard for law enforcement to track them down.....can you see how or why a veiled headscarf or a burqas could present a problem..and no ,it don't have to be a Muslim wearing one....... I bet if she would have took the scarf off they would have allowed her to pass with no problems....that really isn't discrimination...barring her just because of who she is (the hijab is an article of clothing..she is not a piece of cloth and it is not against Islam to not wear one ) ..would be discriminatory.......

personally, I don't feel this was an discriminatory act...I think a guy in a ski mask had as much or better chance of being stop..... but I guess you can make into to discrimination if you want..its all in how you want to view it....

baseball caps do not obscure facial features you can still be identified..........

How many Americans need to be butchered by these people BEFORE you would consider it a issue. Has it occur ed to you that the intention of the world trade center was to kill 50,000 people, just by the grace of God, was it a day with an election, and still too early in the morning, if it had been around 10:45 am it would have been a massacre.

Is you baseball hat turned around backwards and it is pressing against your brain?
