I just answered this question!
Logic
There has never been a definition of God that does not create a self contradiction or logical impossibility. If the claim is that God can exist with either of those characteristics then nothing else can be said about God that could be considered true. God would destroy it's self due to those qualities.
Evidence
There is no evidence that God exists. I am consistent. Since I do not believe in Invisible Pink Unicorns because of the lack of Evidence I also do not believe in God due to the lack of evidence.
Morality
God could not sit by and let atrocities happen an still be considered Good. Even if the first two criteria were met I would not worship an evil being.
Occam's Razor
We have seen naturalistic possibilities for all our questions. Since God is more complex than any natural answer then the natural answer is the more probable.
Time
For anything to happen Time must exist. Space and time can not be separated. Any being given the God title would be bound within Space-time. No matter how powerful it is it could not be a prime mover due to action requiring both time and space.
These are the short answers. They get far more complicated if you really look into them.

If you don't believe, nothing bad will happen to you. God doesn't work that way. When you die, you will just be asleep. The Bible says that your sins are paid for by death. So, you might even be resurrected. Depending on Gods view of you. Don't listen to "Christians" that say you will be tortured in hell. Hell is just the common grave. These people use symbolic verses to support their theory of a hellfire. If there were such a place, God would have told Adam and Eve because they would have been the first ones to go there. They sinned deliberately and because they wanted to be disobedient. Not all people want eternal life in a paradise. That is ok. God wants us to obey him because we love him. Not because we are afraid of him.

I don't believe in God because I don't believe in his supposed ideals. Whether God exists or not, I have my own understanding of what is right and wrong and isn't the same. I'm not someone who will be bought into being a good person. I'm someone who wants to do the right thing for the sake of doing it, not because I will be rewarded at the end of my life. I don't need to be.
There are all kinds of people in the world; cultures, colors, belief systems. Any religion that actively condemns the beliefs of another is just plain wrong. The world isn't black and white. I know what is true of me and my existence--there is no God here. I have my own guardian that I believe in and I'm the only person he has to worry about.

because some people cant wrap there minds in believing something that is invisible and the endless stories in the bible that are seemingly impossible...
however there are many more reasons... some people have has tough issues in their life, people question how can bad things happen in the world and god does nothing about it, the contradictions about god, and they might believe in scientist theories over god's word..
there are many reasons.... you are looking for a short answer, but really the answers are endless.
i am not atheist completely, but i am somewhat, i used to be christian and i hated it, my parents are catholic and i just found too many holes in the whole god theory.... and my prays never got answered... god isn't there for me... i dont care what any one else says

Or "Why do people believe in God"? Is their belief based solely on what they were taught, or perhaps a spiritual epiphamy? Not everyone wants to follow on what they are taught; they question and think and consider the Truth for themselves.

You cannot force people to believe in God. Usually they are scared of God because they know if they believe they will have to live differently. They've been told not to believe. They think they have all the answers. They see the sin in the world and blame it on God when in fact it's people who do the wrong.
The best t hing to do is to pray and ask God to help them believe.

The Lord tells us in the latter days that "hearts will grow cold."
He also tells us that they will love the creature more than the Creator.
They have fallen away - "Left their First Love" church of Ephesus.
Worldly pleasures - false doctrine - church of Pergamos
Jezebel leaders that commit fornication and approve of it in the church - church of Thyatira
Church of Smyrna - persecuted church
Dead church of Sardis
Church of Philadelphia kept God's Word and did not deny His name.
Church of Laodicea - Lukewarm church is good for nothing
Satan has crept into our churches and they are polluted. Man has no excuse not to believe in God. Man wants to do everything his way and not God's way.
