We had to do that once. We used many cans of tomato juice, outside, with the hose to rinse her off. The skunk smell was a lot less, but it took a while for the tomato-skunk smell to go away. Maybe if we had used V-8 . . .

In our grooming shop we shampoo the dog thoroughly, rinse, then apply the following mixture;
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
1 cup shampoo
mix with 4 cups water then apply to wet coat. Leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse.
This will get rid of almost all on the coat. However if it went up the dog's nose, it could take months for it to evaporate from that area.

white vinegar...cheaper then tomato juice too...
Remove skunk odors by wiping down the animal with a 50-50 solution of white distilled vinegar and water, followed by a plain-water rinse. Repeat if necessary.

Bathing him in tomatoes is the best way to go but use dog shampoo once you have finished the tomatoe bath to get rid of the tomatoe smell.

give him a bath in TOMATO JUICE.... sounds horrible but it works....and you'll need a LOT of tomato juice---but it's worth it to get rid of the smell. Oh and if he hasn't learned that the little black and white critters are NOT cute little cats, he PROBABLY will be sprayed again.. Please do NOT use perfumes or deordorants on your dog because those can REALLY harm you dog and his skin BADLY.... just use the tomato juice.

You can buy a product for that purpose at a pet supply store, or tomato juice is known to take out the smell.

In years past people did it with tomatoe juice. There is probably something else you can use these days, call a pet shop.
