CRISPY GREEN BEAN FRIES
WITH WASABI CUCUMBER RANCH DIP
(TGI Friday's copycat recipe)

FOR THE WASABI CUCUMBER RANCH DIP:
1/2 cup bottled ranch dressing (Hidden Valley is best)
1/4 cup cucumbers, peeled, seeded, minced
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon wasabi powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper

FOR THE GREEN BEANS:
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
4 cups vegetable broth or chicken broth
6 to 8 ounces fresh green beans
1 cup flour
1 cup plain breadcrumbs or seasoned dry bread crumbs
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
vegetable shortening or vegetable oil (for frying)

TO PREPARE THE DIP:
Combine dip ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth. Place in bowl; cover and chill till ready to use. Dip will thicken as it chills.

TO PREPARE THE BEANS:
Place beans in the broth. Bring to a boil and cook 15 minutes, then drain and place in cold water to stop cooking process.

Mix beaten egg with milk in a shallow bowl. Measure 1 cup of flour into another shallow bowl. Combine bread crumbs, 3/4 teaspoons salt, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder into a third bowl.

Take a handful of beans out of the water and shake off excess liquid. Coat the beans with the flour, shaking to remove excess flour. Dip the beans, one at a time, into egg/milk mixture, then dip in breadcrumb mixture. Place the beans on a plate until all are coated.

Heat the shortening or oil to 350 degrees F in a heavy skillet (or use deep fryer). Use enough to cover the beans, about 1 1/2 inches. Fry until golden brown, about 1 1/2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

TO SERVE:
Place on a large platter and serve with the wasabi cucumber ranch dip.

Servings: 4

Hi !!!
"jnicole" has a good enough recipe, but I noticed that another cook inserted an ammended version...so here it is...I do not want to take away the fact that "jnicole" was the first & only one to answer your question...I am just trying to help.

I thought that you should see this "Ammended" recipe ...You might also be interested in reading the comments contained in this forum...

First, I don't think the beans are boiled for 15 minutes but I believe they receive a quick 5-7 minute boil in chicken broth. I ammended a portion of the recipe and I'm going to try it later on this week. Let me know if you try it and whether it turned out well.

CRISPY GREEN BEAN FRIES
WITH WASABI CUCUMBER RANCH DIP
(TGI Friday's ammended copycat recipe)

FOR THE WASABI CUCUMBER RANCH DIP:
1/2 cup bottled ranch dressing (Hidden Valley is best)
1/4 cup cucumbers, peeled, seeded, minced
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon wasabi powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper

FOR THE GREEN BEANS:
1 egg, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
4 cups chicken broth
6 to 8 ounces fresh green beans
1 cup flour
1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup of French Fried Onions (crushed)
1/4 teaspoon each of onion and garlic powder
vegetable shortening or vegetable oil (for frying)

TO PREPARE THE DIP:
Combine dip ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth. Place in bowl; cover and chill till ready to use. Dip will thicken as it chills.

TO PREPARE THE BEANS:
Place beans in the broth. Bring to a boil and cook 5-7 minutes, then drain and place in cold water to stop cooking process.

Mix beaten egg with buttermilk in a shallow bowl. Measure 1 cup of flour into another shallow bowl. Place French Fried Onions in a food processor and pulse until somewhat fine. Combine breadcrumbs and FFOs and mix well.
Take a handful of beans out of the water and shake off excess liquid (patting them down with paper towels will help a lot.). Coat the beans with the flour, shaking to remove excess flour. Dip the beans, one at a time, into egg/buttermilk mixture, then dip in breadcrumb/FFO mixture.

Servings: 4

*** I tried the original copycat and it just didn't work right. I also tried the french fried onion idea that Efro posted and that came pretty close but not quite (still brought me closer though). I have not tried this yet but plan on it soon, I'll post the results when I do.

P.S. Don't know if TGI Friday's does but most larger restaurant chains will use shortening instead of oil. Don't know why but I know most of the ones I have seen do.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU6xl

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

You are thinking of Tzitziki Sauce! It's made from Shredded Cucumber, Fresh Dill, Lemon Juice, Plain Yoghurt and S&P. It's great, traditional Greek condiment.
