I agree.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.

While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:

Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.

Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.

All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 819: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm#819

With love in Christ.

The Pope so much obviously didn't say "simplest Catholics have been equipped to obtain salvation". The record says that the Catholic Church is the church Jesus situated upon the rock that's Peter. This is what the Catholic Church has been announcing for 2000 years. Nothing new to look right here.

Religion is an organization by humans so no church is the true chruch

To have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who is the HEAD OF THE CHURCH IS WHAT RELIGION IS ALL ABOUT..it is not following any rituals ..not putting our faith in people but putting our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is the Way the Truth and the Life and the only way to get to our Heavenly Father. We should attend a church where the Bible is preached and recognized as the Word of God and therefore the TRUTH...to worship the Lord with praises with other born again Christians is needed as we all have the same Spirit living within us and therefore we are part of the family of God. Born again simply means to surrender your life to the Lord...he guides us and protects His children. It is written in the Holy Scriptures if you love the Lord you will keep HIS COMMANDMENTS...our lord God should come first in our life till we are taken home. We will please HIM before any other person. THIS IS THE BEST LIFE WHILE ON EARTH.....

Because many Christians believe that the Catholic church not only is not the one true church, but also a church that teaches false doctrine. Many Bible churches believe that the Catholic church has put their own doctrines into place to control the church and confuse their members. the title "Mary Queen of Heaven" is one example of some of, what some believe, the teachings of false doctrine that border on hearsay. So it is kind of a double whammy when the Pope says something like that.

At first when I read the report, I thought "well that's cocky!!" But then I got to thinking about it, and I thought that that's pretty much how all churches feel. People wouldn't go to a church if they didn't think there was truth there.

The only problem I see with his statement is that he said that salvation can ONLY come through them. That no other church can give salvation. That doesn't sit well with me. If that was true, then Christ would have said that the only way to get salvation was to join the catholic church.

The Baptist do not teach that doctrinally, nor do the Presbyterians, or the Calvary Chapels, or Bible Churches.

It is a very big deal. But it is not a new deal-the catholic church has been teaching that as doctrine for about 1300 years.

Slow news day? You have a point, this is nothing new. Every newspaper needs a headline though, as do Internet news sites, radio and TV coverage.

We are surrounded by so much media coverage that it's front page news when Paris gets out of prison.

True, in some form and the Catholic Church ,unlike so many of the 30,000 Bible Alone groups, sees other Christian groups as "instruments of salvation".

Because that's what they believe, that they really ARE the true religion. They try to convince people to join them by saying that, but I guess now that a lot of people are seeing that every church is saying that, they don't really believe it any more. >_< It would be a bit harder for religions to convince people now..... ._.
