So i have a 16 week old bengal who has the runny poops, she's had them since the day i brought her home.
she was been on albon and electrolytes when i got her and now i've even switched her food from wellness because i was told it could be too rich for her. (and yes.. the proper way)
Right now i have her on metronidazole in case it's inflamed bowels... she needs to be on it for 10 days, it's been five so far.. and no change.

someone told me to check her for enteric pathogens.. does anyone know what that is? i've never heard of it before. the person said since she's a purebred she may have this problem forever. i've had her tested for parasites and what not.. all came back negative but still no luck in curing the poops.
she's drinking lots, eating lots and gaining weight, and is perfectly normal... besides the poops and i'm out of ideas!!

An enteric pathogen is something that causes disease in the intestines. There are many causes.

This is something I was reading about recently on this subject. Has your vet done a stool culture and sent it to a lab for analysis? Abdominal x-rays and contrast studies? Biopsy? Ultrasound? Endoscopy? You may have to run the gamut of tests to try to determine the cause. Then hope it is something treatable or manageable. An internal medicine specialist may be helpful in cases like this.

Chronic large bowel diarrhea in cats: some causes include dietary sensitivity (ie food allergy), IBD, colonic lymphosarcoma, Salmonella, Clostridium, other bacteria, FeLV, FIV, FIP, parasites. There are also genetic abnormalities.
Trichomonas foetus: flagellated protozoan parasite resides in colon of cat and causes colitis and chronic, foul smelling diarrhea. Ronidazole 30-50mg/kg, PO, q 12h, for 14 days. Not currently licensed for human or veterinary use, but the chemical grade compound is available from Sigma. (The Capsule Report, vol. 25 March 2007).

She was once ordinarily calm and sleepy given that that most commonly while you undertake a kitten or any animal from a refuge they are going to or would possibly not have their photographs or are fatigued from being in a cage every day. Also the kitten would possibly simply be being used to the subculture of a muddle field and the day-to-day dwelling lifestyles, that can be the rationale why she was once sleepy and calm. She will play chew for a whilst. I've had my Cat considering she was once eight weeks historical and she or he play bit and was once into the whole lot, she is now one million yr historical and ever considering I've gotten her constant she has been extra docile and calm than ever earlier than. She is a entirely special animal considering then. More clingy whilst a feminine given that male cats have a tendency to be extra of the sweetheart form of puppy! Hope this helped =]!

Tough one, I've never heard of that. I have a kitty 14 months old that has had loose poops her whole life. They improved a little on meds but not for long so I gave it up because some of them can lead to diabetes. She's normal and very active other than that. The vet can probably give you more info on the term "enteric pathogens." Sorry, this doesn't help, just wanted to share! :)

maybe it's something that a specific breed carries. sort of like black people are more likely to get sifilus - sp? - are you feeding her dry food?
if it's not hurting her i wouldn't really worry about it that much.
