What Age Did Jesus Die

2016-10-19 06:55:06 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

See, Jesus was perfect. He was 100% man and 100% God. He was a Man and it was hard to believe He was God. He was God and it was hard to believe that He was Man. At age 33, it's as far as anyone will grow physically, after that the body begins to age. The Lord Jesus Christ was not going to age anymore than what He did, If He'd live to 100 years old He would still be as if He were 33. He was sinless and perfect, death and age had no power over Him. Even now He's seated at the right hand of God in His prime, and so shall it be for all eternity. Glory to God in the highest.....

We do not know the exact age of Jesus yet for quite some time people have stated with reservation that He was 33.5 years old. A lot of reasoning is touted such as He was 30 when He started (Luke 3 says "about 30" because He didn t know.) and since His ministry lasted 3.5 years that makes the dates simple. But we have no basis for the length of ministry. Often people site that John mentions 3; maybe 4 Passovers as a basis, yet that is only to support the assumed age of 33.5 years passed through the years. The earliest source I have found mentioning His age was Eusebius in the late 200 s. He set Jesus age at 33 by quoting Josephus about who was High Priest that year because he misunderstood Josephus to say that Annas and Caiaphas only served one year apiece. (even the translator of Eusebius made note that he was mistaken about his understanding of Josephus.) . Since Annas was high priest in the book of acts disproves this notion. Irenaeus (leading bishop in the 2nd century) Quoted John 8:57 where the Jews stated "you are not yet 50 years old" to support his theory that Jesus was closer to 50 than he was 40 years. If Jesus did live to be 45 it changes a lot of concepts as to dating everything in the New Testament since all dates are conjecture based on Jesus ascending in approximately 37AD. There are a few dates we can get pretty close on. The taxation by Augustus 2-5AD, when He was born and the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD. Everything but perhaps John s writings happened between those dates.

an angel spoke to Daniel and said seventy weeks would be divided into three periods : seven weeks: sixty-two weeks and one week. totaling 490 years. God for 490 years, or 70yrs multiply by 7. The starting point would be the going forth of the word to restore and rebuild JERUSALEM.

the restoration of the city was accomplished. it was completed about 406 B.C.E with end the seven weeks or 49 tears. A period of 62 weeks or 434 years would follow. after that time, the long promised Messiah would appear. Counting 483 years (49 plus 434 ) from 455 B.C.E. bring us to 29 C.E.

This is were Jesus public ministry began and lasted 3 and 1/2 years were Christ was cut off when he died at the torture stake. This is were no longer need animal sacrifices and gift to GOD, it was replaced by the death of his son.

Through sin and death continued, Jesus being cut off and his resurrection to heavenly life fulfilled prophecy. It terminated transgression finished off sin. God had removed the Law covenant, which exposed and condemned the Jews as sinners.
SO BY THE END OF THE 70 YEARS, in 36 C.E. the apostle Peter preached in his household and to everyone the good news so began to be declared among people of the nations!!!!
I hope this help you because without Christ fulfillment we lose are contention with God.

If this character lived at all then he died from being crucified. Three nails, a whipping and beating, a crown of thorns, a spear in the side and broken legs to make you suffocate will tend to do that.
The character's age is of no significance. Unless you are looking at it as mythology, then yes, 33 would be double 3 and three being a 'mystical' number I guess that would mean something.

Jesus began teaching after he was anointed the massiah @ 30 years old and

Daniel 9:26-27
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week (Wednesday is the middle of the week) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, (Remember, Jesus is the sacrificial Passover Lamb).

And he died @ 33.5 years.

He had to be older than 33. There were three Herods - the Herod whom the Magi visited and who ordered infant boys under two years of age to be killed, died in 4 B.C. so Jesus was living then.

I think that his age is irrelevant to his death. If anything, that would have made him middle aged, as people typically didn't live to be all that old. So, in a way, he was fortunate (destined?) to live as long as he had. I know mystical thinking looks at the number 3 and thinks of the trinity, as though it means something more. Personally, I don't believe that. I think between his actions and his preaching, that is enough. Numerology isn't important.

he came here to die for us
it had to happen that way
no significance to the numbers that I know of.

He started his ministry at 30 years old...he taught for 3 years he had 12 apostles and many disciples and followers.
he died
he was dead for parts of 3 days and nights
then he was resurrected back to the earth ( showing what is in store for us)
he walked the earth for 40 days until his sacrifice was accepted by God and he ascended to the throne to be at Gods right hand.
