I wanted, as a young teen, to be involved in architecture. I loved to draw and wanted to be an artist as well. Also wanted to sing in a band or group.
Now that I am 48, I have done most all of those mentioned above. I graduated from the London City and Guilds Decorative Restoration (where I go out and work on restoring historic buildings and such), became a self taught pen and ink artist, which I have let slide for many years due to my work and traveling for jobs all over the US but still dabble in it when I am able to do decorative painting in peoples homes as well as my sons bathroom and bedroom. Would love to be able to do more with the drawing but finding the time is almost impossible.
Did do singing while in college but did more musical theatre than anything else. Must have been involved with over 20 musicals in my lifetime. I have sung in a Christian band in the early 80s but did more church pop groups in praise bands and such. I am now a participant in another Christian singing group that sings southern contemporary gospel songs that travels around the WA/OR/ID area. It may take time but be patient with yourself and set realistic goals.

Good question!
When I was in grade school, I wanted to be an artist, perhaps a cartoonist. When I turned 13, I wanted to be a writer.
I'm now 50. I have never made a living as a writer, but I have had two plays produced, one Off-Off-Broadway, and I had a guest column published in a local NYC free paper, Metro New York. I drew some cartoons for my college paper decades ago, and sometimes I make greeting cards for my family and friends, and I make Halloween costumes and Easter bonnets for myself. My writing skills come in handy as a college writing tutor. I still hope to publish that great story, song, play, etc., that will deeply affect people and live on after I die.

No, I did not turn out to be a garbage man. I went to college, got a degree in chemisty and computers. I now teach.
