I am a dentist, and I brush my teeth after breakfast.
That's how we professionals make sure we don't get cavities-- By brushing after each meal to prevent cavity-causing plaque from building up on our teeth.
Want to keep cavities away so you don't have to pay us to drill them out and fill 'em? Do what we do.
Hope this helps.

To get the most benefit from brushing it would make the most sense to brush after you eat. Assuming you flossed and brushed the night before, your teeth have been virtually free of sugar and bacteria all night. After you have breakfast and you have coated your teeth in food and sugar, you should remove the food, bacteria and sugar so you can carry on your day with clean teeth. At least until your morning break and you eat again...but then you should brush again, RIGHT?
You should brush your teeth after every snack and meal, and then finish your day with a flossing and a brush. That will keep the bacteria and the sugar from doing harm to your teeth.

i brush right after i wake up, before breakfast, too. yes, i agree with you that it makes more sense to brush after, but i do know that everyone should brush before AND after breakfast to get the healthiest, cleanest teeth. but i do admit that i am just either too rushed in the morning or too lazy to brush after breakfast. lol. but anyways, after breakfast, i usually have a piece of gum to get the "just brushed clean" feeling that i lack.

You don't want to brush your teeth right after you eat, wait about 45 minutes. This is because you want to wait for the acid levels to drop in your mouth and right after you eat they are at their highest, and it's not recommended you brush at that time. You can chew a piece of gum after you eat, preferably sugar free. So brush when you first wake up and then have breakfast.

I brush mine as soon as I get up. That way, any acidic residue that's been building up during the night gets removed. I guess there's nothing stopping you from brushing them after breakfast as well :-)

As long as you brush...that is what matters. If you have time to brush after you eat then do it that way instead of before. I just know if my kids brush before coming down stairs at least I know it's done.
Do you brush after lunch? Probably not, so its ok to brush first then eat..you'll get it nice and clean before bed...right? lol

before you go to bed, when you wake up, and when you are done with breakfast. Unless you want your breakfast in your teeth all day.

I do if after breakfast so I can clean away what I just ate, and it also leaves your mouth smelling nice, not like your morning coffee or what ever you ate.
