My mother-in-law gave me her TOP SECRET recipe for the best carrot cake ever, but she didn't want me to share it with anyone else. (Why do people do this? I'm quite certain she didn't develop the recipe herself.) It's too good not to share. So take it if you'd like, and leave one if you want to!

2 c. all purpose flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
4 eggs
1 c. cooking oil
4 c. (1 lb.) grated carrots, raw
1/2-1 c. chopped pecans
3/4 - 1 c. raisins
1 recipe cream cheese frosting (your choice)

Thoroughly stir together flour, sugar, soda, salt, and cinnamon. In large mixing bowl, beat eggs till frothy. Slowly beat in oil. Gradually add flour mixture, beating till smooth. Mix in carrots, nuts, and raisins. Pour into 3 greased and floured 8" round pans. Bake at 350 for 25-30 min. or till done. Cool in pans 10 min., remove from pans and cool completely on racks. Fill and frost with cream cheese frosting. Decorate top with pecan halves.

Yum!

She gave you something and asked you not to share it? Why did you? If you think it is so common then everyone could find it for themselves. If she finds this is she going to trust you again? I may be old fashioned but if someone asks me to keep a secret. I do.
I could give you a better recipe, but it is an old family secret.
Does your mom-in-law have an email address? I know you will not give it to me.
