I liked your post, it made interesting reading and a lot of sense. It seems like part of the proof of your assertions about peer pressure can be found in some of the disparaging remarks posted in response to it. No one like to have their world view challenged and be made to look like someone who just accepts things they are taught because it is easier than investigating them.

Here's a story that you may be familiar with that pertains to that mind set.

One day a tailor who was famous for his artistry was hired by the Emperor to make him the most beautiful set of clothes in the empire. The tailor was afraid because the Emperor was known to be ruthless when his demands were not met and if the tailor failed it was likely that he would lose his life.

Knowing what a proud man the Emperor was the tailor came up with a scheme that he felt sure would take care of all of the difficulties. He came to the Emperor with an empty clothes box and told him that these clothes were so beautiful that only those people of the highest refinement could see them.

He pretended to pull items out of the box to show the Emperor who not wanting to be thought of as a commoner pretended that he could see them and remarked upon their beauty. Word got around to all of the nobles and then to the common people about these marvelous clothes that onl people of refinement could perceive. Then came the day for the Emperor to show off his new rainment. He walked through the streets naked while everybody pretended that they could see the clothes since they didn't want to offend the Emperor of be thought of as common by the other people. But a young boy who knew nothing about the pride and fear of adults was standing along the route and when the Emperor came by he pointed and cried out "The Emperor is naked!"

That’s garbage. Evolution is an observed, replicated, verified, established empirical and scientific fact. There is an abundance of evidence from multiple sources that apply consistently and predictably worldwide. There is no contradictory evidence – every argument raised against it has been demonstrably shown to be wrong or deliberate deception and intentionally dishonest.

The irrelevant story is classic Creationist slight-of-hand to avoid direct scientific debate where is has (and will) always been soundly defeated and rejected. Claims to the contrary are, again, either the result of honest ignorance or are intentional lies spread in support of a non-scientific ideological belief system.

More than just fact, the theory of evolution is the most powerful general explanatory model in all of science. Without it, every life science collapses and all biological knowledge is false.

This includes medical science which, if evolution were false, would be no more than voodoo and the mystical mumbo-jumbo practiced by Witch Doctors. Creationists, as well as everyone, who submits to the care of a modern physician is placing their health and lives in the hands of Practitioners of Evolutionary Theory.

Oh, absolute garbage. Evolution IS true, but scientists don't have to make their case to young high-school students and seek their approval. Science is not a democracy. If you don't have the brains for it you're OUT! These questions are decided in the higher arenas of Ph.D.'s, in the arenas of peer-reviewed scientific literature where bad ideas don't survive, and the solid chains of evidence DO filter down to high school, but only some of it. Like for anything else.

I'd say belief in Creationism is the far more serious problem of "pointing to nothing at all and calling it something" and "not explaining where that God came from if everything needs an Intelligent Designer so much". Plus there is so much dishonesty and Bearing False Witness among the Creationists themselves:

I have never heard anything as ludicrous as this so called theory or religion of evolution. To suggest that everything came out of nothing without a creator is insane. To say that life originated from millions of years of rain falling on rocks is even crazier. This is taught by people who wish to have no consequences for their actions. If there is no punishment for wrong doing, then they can do whatever they wish. A nice thought, but when their judgment comes I would hate to be in their shoes.

If you want an answer, ask a simple question. Don't expect anyone to read a whole book. Most of those links are just a heap of bull XXXX anyway.

The Chinese do not have a problem with evolution, only the fundamentalist Christians!
So why quote a Chinese saying, and try to bolster a pathetic attempt to discredit a world wide accepted theory.

Read it. It lies and so do you.

Martin S. Do you know the difference between evidence and assertion? Your answer said you do not.
