I own the software and I lost my copy of the CD. My ISP is canceling my account for this. I didn't know it was not allowed to download a backup of the CD.

You can use any copy of Microsoft Software as long as you provide the key that came with the system.

That is only speaking on terms of buying the CD though. Microsoft has a very tough policy towards piracy and downloading copies of it from another site would be considered piracy in their book.

Best thing you could have done was gone to Microsoft web site and downloaded the free trials then upgraded your trial offer with the code you already had.

Technically... depending on the EULA you agreed to... downloading the software may be perfectly legal, so long as it does not include a license key...


Your ISP sucks either way. Get a real ISP.

Your ISP wouldn't cancel your service for one bit of software download. If you still have your code, you may be able to work something out with Microsoft on their help site.

BTW, it is illegal to download software that isn't freeware or pay for shareware unless you're paying for it.

No if you still have the license for the paid version, is not illegal is like downloading a trial and then activating it with a key purchased by phone.

as long as you have the original serial than its ok to download it as when you buy this software all that about you pay is mostly for the serial as with out it you cant use the program so yes its ok to download a back up BUT only if you have the serial you payed for

No. unless you download either a cracked version, or one with a keygen, if you already have your old License key everything is all legal :P

Get hold of Microsoft and explain your dilemma to them, if you still have the code there should not be a problem.
