MY HUSBAND MADE $90,000.00 last year, but we live very modestly. With the cost of things here, he had to work 60-80 hrs. a week to get that. Mind you though, I don't work and I have one child that is home schooled and one in public school. Just out of a BK13 that took over $2,500.00 from us every month!!

The first answerer is wrong. Fafsa DOES ask about marital status, income, tax returns, etc. BUT there is a line in the worksheet = for people who actually prepare to fill it out - that asks for expenses paid on your behalf...and another line for rents and mortgage amounts.

I make plenty of money, am white and married - I get 3800 per year - accuratetly filling out the forms!

Go to fafsa.gov. You will see steps to complete the form. Start with step ONE...

Also, many junior colleges have EOPS programs that will look at your net expenses, waive tuition and pay for books! It will take you longer than 9 months but will not leave you owing ANY money when youre done!

federal aid is not based at all on race and it isnt even asked on the application. it is need based. apply online at fafsa.ed.gov. they will take into fact that you are married and that you have 2 dependants. you will have to supply your tax return paperwork from last year and they will use that to decide on your EFC (expected family contribution). after that is decided, they will award any available aid. if you are applying after the preferred date (feb 07 to start aug 07) you will receive less aid because there isnt as much left to give. also check out fastweb.com to look for scholarships. $10000 married with 2 children is below poverty level so you should not be considered rich making that amount. after you apply for fafsa federal aid, you will then also be eligible for loans. one thing to think of, though, is if you already have a bachelors degree (not sure of your background) you will only be eligible for loans, no grants.

For a Pell Grant you need to start with the FAFSA. You will notice that no where does it ask about race. Your martial status, household size, and income are some factors used in determining your grant award however.
