I accidently charged too much on my debit account for north fork bank. Are they going to automatically charge me a fee or do i have some time to put the money back into the account before i get charged an extra fee.??

It's a matter of beating the bank. Meaning if your funds show before the charges you will be OK, if not you will have to pay a fee.

For the record, I noticed on CNN that congress is getting involoved in this fee business because banks are making a ton of money on overdraft fees on debit cards.

you will be charged a over the limit fee if you don't get money in there before it posts...and most likely, if you used it as a debit and not a credit card..you will be charged a fee....sorry :(

Yes you have a little time, but not a lot since it is a debit card. Make a deposit today to cover the shortfall plus any anticipated fees plus a cushion. Cross your fingers.

Put the money in as soon as possible. You may have time to cover it before you get an enormous over draft fee.
