I went to a Christening at the weekend. It was not exactly a traditional service... there were some normal looking people at the front who (halfway through one of the slightly awkward modern Christian songs accompanied by guitars, a viola and some sort of rain stick) started moving around a little too much for comfort and raising their hands towards the front of the church.
Is this normal? I wondered how some apparently sane people could be this susceptible to something so hard to believe. I don't want to use the word 'brainwashed', so I won't. I respect people's freedom to choose their own path, as long as it doesn't adversely affect anyone else.
Actually, I rather envied them as I watched, hiding behind a large stone pillar. They looked quite happy.

Everyone has a different understanding of the concept of "God". People often use the word/name "God" as a kind of shorthand way of referring to the creator of "life, the universe, and everything", the "uncaused cause". Since we are able to carry on this conversation, I assume we are real and whatever it is that created humankind is real.
The theologian Paul Tillich described God as "the ground of being", our "ultimate concern". Let me (over-) simplify and ask you what your "ultimate concern" is. What is most important to you? What is there that you cannot do without? That is God to you, and it is most certainly real--to you.
You obviously aren't satisfied with other people's descriptions of God, which are often not well put to words (after all, "God" is a label for something beyond our experience or description). You are of course free to believe as you choose. But I hope you learn to be a little more patient with people who aren't as smart as you are-- because there are a lot of us out here, and you are going to have to get along with us at some level.
You need to be more specific and tell us what "God" means to you, before this can be discussed in more detail.

Your not crazy, I thought this at one time to and now proud to believe in God. Its all spiritual. We have a physical being and spiritual being. Some people are spiritually dead and some are spiritually alive (its a feeling you have but we are given free will and you have to choose to find it and accept it before you feel it). The spiritual realm is another dimension not one that we can physically see or touch. What about people who have near death experiences? Some are unbelievers who were brought back to life and speak of seeing a bright light/peace. Google this stuff you'll find some stories. There are a lot of phony, religious, zealous people out there so be careful. I believe this earth and this life is "peanuts" compared to where God is and what he has in store for all who choose him. We're in a spiritual battle and you must choose sides...everything comes to an end and wouldn't you like to live eternity with God? What's sad is to think people believe there is nothing after this life. We die and that's it? What about the power of love! There is more my dear! "seek and you shall find".

Horrible. Have you read what he does in the Bible? I'm not Athiest, I'm Buddhist, but that counts cuz we don't believe in any God.
In the Bible he turns people to salt, doesn't save his own son from dieing OR get him out of the cave, he killed all those Egyptians, made people wander in the desert for 40 years, let loose all those plauges...
If those were just fake things written by old farmers that worked 14 hours a day in a hot feild, what would he be like if he really were here? I shudder to think of it. I respect all religions, though.

GOD IS REAL and I don't think you are crazy . You just don't believe that's all...
Every major religion in the world has a God or a supreme being at it's centre so I feel a little sorry for anyone who doesn't believe in a supreme creator of some sort.
To me LIFE would be meaningless.

If we all really believed in HIM life would be beautiful, and because most of us don't Really believe in HIM even if we utter it from our lips ... life is ugly. We make our lives what we want and if we do bad we get bad and if we do good we get good.
If we just start doing that and stop fighting about GOD .... we would be much better off. Let those who want to believe in GOD believe in HIM and those that don't .. let them not believe.
No one is in charge of making anyone believe. So, lets stop fighting and start living in peace based on respect and acceptance even if we disagree on the inside and think that the other person is wrong.
Easy to say .. but extremely difficult to do. I fail at it myself, but keep trying.

how are human beings dropping their existence? because of the fact their no longer working around killing anybody, dozing around with each and everything that strikes (like u could be doing), or merely appearing like a user-friendly previous fool? human beings wastes their lives merely because of the fact they stay morally and care with regard to the wellbeing of others? Now i'm able to work out once you're conversing with regard to the ridiculous issues in the bible like going to hell for procuring a tattoo (engraving photographs on the physique), or somethin cuz even i think of this is a lil... ya comprehend... hell, i'm getting tatted in a pair weeks. I easily have my relaxing. I easily have premarital intercourse yet WHO CARES? this is no longer an excellent deal. this is my existence. like it is your existence so what. i'm sorry you experience like anybody is dropping their lives merely because of the fact their no longer pleasing you. GET A interest.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think it could be any other way. If we could prove God's existence, we wouldn't be afraid of death or God. We'd probably all ask for forgiveness and commit suicide. If God is real, it has to be how it is now, with us wondering and questioning.
