You know I think you are great but I have to disagree on this issue.

I remember during Viet Nam the slogan was "America love it or leave it". That disgusted me.

This idiotic 'stand in front of them' is equally disgusting. I am against the war. Our president lied to us to get us in there. I fully support our men and women over there in harms way because they are doing what is asked of them. They took their job and when it came time for them to do it they have stepped up.

The religious idiots use that slogan to imply that if you are against the war you are against our troops. That is NOT TRUE!!!! It wasn't true in Viet Nam and it is not true now.

I can hate the war. I can hate our idiot president for lying to us. I will always support our troops because they are dieing. I don't see anyone named Bush over there. Do you?

Who used that expression? I think it's idiotic for two reasons. 1. Assuming the person isn't pro-troops, using a violent answer to someone's opinion is wrong. It's their opinion. 2. Bullets would go through the bodies too quickly. Think of a better shield for our troops.

I have to agree with John O on this one. Yes, thousands of innocent civilians have been killed, but I think it's an over simplification and generalization to say our troops are over there killing innocent people. And when you look at the demographic of the people who enlist in the military you realize that for the majority of them it is a way to pay for school, a way to learn a trade. I'm opposed to war except in extreme cases, because it wreaks destruction that is widespread and long lasting. Having said all this, I have a cousin who is serving in Iraq on his 3rd tour, and I would give anything to bring him home and keep him safe.

Whenever I see a bumper sticker that says "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!" I want to get out with a huge marking pen & add: "BRING THEM HOME!" That is the ONLY way to support them. Has anyone been reading credible news reports online? Our brain dead president with his not brain dead (but with an agenda) Cheney, his accompanying adult, aren't going to back down. Bush is fixated on Iraq. This is NOT a war, we are NOT defending our country. We invaded based on LIES & fear tactics; it is a CIVIL WAR & the Iraqi people were better off with Saddam. Face it. Even the Bush cohorts are deserting the sinking ship. The polls can go down to zero, & the idiot/evil twins won't stop. THIS is the democracy we want to shove down everyone's throat? OUT. NOW. This isn't working, (read, listen), & it can't. Some of these troops are on their third tours--they wanted a college education? Hello? Just keep feeding them into the meat grinder, & never mind how many innocent Iraqis have died & are fleeing their homes in terror. This is an abomination. Oh, my blood pressure is going up....

Please define "innocent". Would you be referring to the people who plant roadside bombs and remote detonate them to kill American soldiers? I disagree with the slogan, actually I find it offensive, considering that most often when I see it posted it appears that the Individual spewing it knows nothing of combat and certainly hasn't seen it up close and personal. However, I think you might want to reconsider not supporting your Armed forces, wether you support the war is another matter entirely, but those men and women who wear our Country's uniform at the very least deserve your support and respect.

With sincerity and respect,
An Ex-soldier

P.S. this has nothing to do with the fact that I really enjoy your posts just my opinion. ;)

i disagree with you partly, some of them volunteer, but it is a real job, real people with real families trying to support their loved ones. I don't think most of them want to be killing unknown enemies in Iraq but thats their orders, and theres really no alternative other than to quit which really isn't an option either since that has legal consequences if you desert. In essence the men and women that are fighting are just wanting to defend our country and help their fellow soldiers get through it alive. i don't think its bad that they want to defend us, the real evil is the people who order them to kill innocents i.e. Bush. Would you really call our troops evil if their orders were to protect us from an invading nation on our own shores?

i agree with a heavy heart. i want them to come home safe. and at what point will our government swallow their pride and give it up? that entire region of the world is fraught with religious unrest that dates back probably thousands of years. it's not going to go away just because american soldiers are over there. it is a war that cannot be won, and it's at the expense of our men dying every day, for nothing.

I'm not behind, in front or on the side of them. I am totally opposed to them being there doing what they are doing in the first place. I don't support them or the war they are fighting or the country they are fighting for. They should be getting that "college education" that the army falsely promises to lure you in.

If you were standing next to a cliff, and I was next to you when some other guy ran up to me and pushed me; knocking into me so that I knocked into you, and you fell off the cliff...Technically the person who knocked you off the cliff was me, but the person responsible for knocking you off the cliff was the person who pushed me. That is the same with soldiers, our citizens sign up, oftentimes to go to college and the officers tell them what to do. They are told where to go and what to do. They must do what they must to survive.

The responsibility for their actions lie with their officers, and the government, and the people who elect members of the government, and the citizens who do not remain vigilant of their government.

its easy to, of course, understand. as in 'stand in front and die instead.' but im sure we all got that.

yeah, i dont support them as killers. but as humans, sure, dont want them to die. so, u say 'tomato', i say 'no more war, lets call the whole thing off.'
