do custom orthotics work for shin splints? i was told i have flat feet and was told to get these suckers.

anyone with experience from orthotics as a solution to shin splints CAUSED BY FLAT FEET...let me know.

I found they did not help me, in fact they increased the pain. I found it to be a big waste of money. in the end I had to find the best shoe for myself. It ended up being SAS shoes.

I don't know if custom orthotics will work that much better than good shoe insoles with solid arch support. Don't just get some gel insoles that are flat. Arch support is very important. I had a lot of problem with shin splints, and they turned into stress fractures due to lack of support and crappy boot camp boots! So good insoles and good shoes should help. Also, putting ice on your shins and taking aleve or motrin will help with the pain and imflamation. Hope this helps!

In my experience they were a huge waste of money and a huge cause of more pain.
