Hey everyone. I have a Bachelors degree in Business. Major is Finance, Minor is computers. I have 10 years experience in the retail industry. I would like to pursue a career in computers now but don't know how to do it. There are degree programs in my area for Bachelors and Associate degrees. However, I already have a Bachelors. Should I go back anyway and get another degree? This can be expensive. Or, is there some place else I can start and further my experience in computers that is less timely and more cost effective? Career counselling is expensive and sometimes doesn't work. I am depending on Yahoo Answers for some thoughts. Any?

Full time schooling isn't the big thing for you right now. Keeping up with the technology is. So if there are mini classes offered by Vista and others, jump on them instead.

As the old saying goes, "The world is your oyster."
What are you waiting for? In this wonderful country of ours, pick-up the paper in any metropolitan area and go through the paper's employment/help wanted classified ads. OR go online and do the research for your area or the area you want to re-locate to/from and for the position [entry level or higher] you are seeking employment.

Granted, at the very least, you should take a refresher course. However, usually those you work with at your new position should be able to help you get over those initial learning bumps and humps.

ABOVE ALL ELSE:
1] DON'T leave your present position by "burning your bridges" and quitting. You never know when you may have to go back to your former position.
2] Get hired for the new position first, then give proper notice at your present job. Leave on good terms OR do your best to try to leave on good terms.

I wish you well.

IT is a very hot field right now and with a minor in it along with a major in business I see no problem with you changing direction so to speak. Get on Monster and careerbuilder bet you have an offer or two within a week. Good luck to you, although I do not think you need it
