you can't tell a person what they believe or don't believe
you aren't them
you would laugh at them if they said this about you ... why ?

I'm not sure of the exact definition of theist so I will presume it means someone who believes or says they believe in God. The problem arises in defining what God is. The Christian image of God is not shared universally. The God recognised by pagans or talked about in the Jewish Cabala may not be recognisable to Christian's. The Christian's claims about God may not make God recognisable in the eyes of other religions. In Buddhism they don't talk of God but a God Head, which I suspect is another way of thinking or understanding God.

I can't know what a crazy person believes, but I can tell you that humans are biologically rational. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to survive. Sooner or later we would start believing in something for which there is no evidence, like, we can fly, or some other such nonsense. So, I can say with a fair amount of certainty, that sane people don't believe in God. They may SAY they believe in God. They may HOPE there's a God. They may even WANT to believe in God. But, they don't. They believe an oncoming bus will crush them and so they jump out of the way. But, God? Nah. There's just no evidence in sight.

I have now decided to chuck my atheist state and enter the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Well cooked for me, and a martini on the side.

God was invented so men could have unhappy lives and look forward to a further life where everything would be perfect. Clergymen perpetuate the invention, because it's a living.

Nope not true for me. I believe in "god" just not in the way christians do. And, I don't believe that atheists secretly believe in god.
However, unlike most atheists, I don't make fun of them for their non-belief. I accept their path as a valid one. It'd be nice to get the same respect. Neither of us can prove the other, so there's no need to call names or condescend.
Respect is a two-way street.

No. But it's probably closer to the truth for a lot of them (erm, us). Especially those who keep insisting that it's "safer" to believe than to risk hell.
