I say a black dress for any occasion works but personal preference aside, it depends on the format and the time of the wedding. Make some inquiries as to whether the wedding is formal, semi-formal, casual, semi-casual and also ask about dress code in terms of what is not acceptable.
Most importantly, have fun!

Black is not a color to wear to a wedding. Neither is white.
Here is the general rule of thumb. Morning to mid afternoon: frock, Nice sundress with coverup. Late afternoon, early evening: Cocktail dress. Night: formal. Have a great time!

depends on the wedding time. at night they tend to be more formal.
for a casual wedding a nice skirt/shirt would be lovely. remember to bring something to wear in the church if it is cold.
if it's more formal, i would go with a longer dress.

Definitely a little summery black dress w/some strappy heels. It's a dress that goes well w/any occasion especially if it is a night time wedding.

I would say a nice summer dress. Like maybe to your knees or just a little longer.
