I tried Chantix and it curbed the cravings very well but made me eat and after a couple of weeks, I could not stop crying. It also gave me very vivid and weird dreams. I stopped using it and am still smoking

CHAMPIX (in USA this medication is called CHANTIX) is considered a good medication to stop smoking, but have some side effects: nausea, headache, insomnia, and abnormal dreams.

In UK a spokesperson for NICE said: “Having looked at all the evidence, our independent Committee have concluded that varenicline appears to be a good way to help people who want to quit smoking. The draft guidance also recommends that varenicline should normally be provided in conjunction with counselling and support, but if such support is not available, this should not stop smokers receiving treatment with varenicline.

I did use it to quit smoking-and I am smoking again. It started out ok because I did not get the craving at first. But about a month into it my stomach started to swell and my digestion stopped working. My doctor put me on all kinds of medication and none of it worked. I am still struggling to get my stomach restored--7 months after I gave up and went back to smoke again.
I was talking to 2 nurses and they both told me the same thing: a lot of people do get problems with their stomach, and that is really not listed in the possible side effects.
I decided to go for it the natural way next time around, because I will quit smoking eventually. For the time being am I still working on getting my digestion back on track, but I think by year's end am I going to quit and I sure hope that this time around I am not going to have those problems!!!!!!!!!

My brother-in-law used it and it helped him immensely. He says the only hard part was getting used to not having a cigarette in his mouth. He did gain about 5 lbs though.

I'm wondering why this is in the Etiquette section? Give it a try in another section (medicine? general society?), you may get a better response. Have a great day!

How much does that champix cost? Quit buying those lung darts, and throw the lighter away. Duh!
