I am helping my doctor volunteer by simply helping her file and sort the equipment. I know I am underqualified and limited to do more medical things, but i want to get the experience instead of just filing. How can i tell my doctor. and what can i do for her if i am not filing.

Perhaps you could clean the consulting room, or restock supplies, but frankly, there are very few things that can properly be done by someone with little or no training in the field of medicine. If you live in the U.S., there are pretty strict rules about it, both because of licensing by the state and because of unions.

Contact your local community college or vocational school. There are many programs out there offering a certification or A.A. in Medical Assisting, Nursing Aide and other similar areas. Tell your boss, and if she likes you and thinks you have potential, she might help you pay for it!

tell your doctor that you love the work that you are doing and would like to seek part time position doing this type of work,,,,, ask them what do they think about it and if maybe some classes would help and which classes would they recommend... this is a very high form of flattery for your doctor who sound like they have become a friend. good luck!
