Pain is the body's way of telling you it needs a rest. Take a break for at least three days from exercise.
Take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes. The Epsom salts will help eliminate the lactic acid that forms on the muscles from over exertion.
Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles.
Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.
I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for athletes: it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods.
500mg of calcium and magnesium, taken twice daily, can help with diminishing the pain.

It doesn't sound like more exercise will help you leg. When you work out, it makes little tears in your muscles, then when the tears heal, that's how you build up muscle. Did you stretch well before and after the squats and stuff that you did? That will help for next time. Also, you may have just done too much for your muscles. The only thing that will let them heal is time, but you do need to do some stretching everyday anyway. If it's just one leg and not the other, you may just have pulled a muscle. That will also heal with time. In the meantime, you can try a hot bath, icing it down, whatever makes it feel better. Also, tylenol or some other over the counter pain killer will help. But basically, time should take care of it. If the pain is unbearable, and it doesn't seem to be AT LEAST getting better in about a week, consider seeing a doctor. You could have torn too much muscle, or caused some other damage. Chances are, this is not the case, but at any rate the doctors can't do too much for minor muscle tears either. My brother tore a muscle in his back picking up something really heavy. He was in a lot of pain and went to see his doctor. The doctor did give him some stronger pain medicine and just told him to get plenty of bed rest and not to lift anything. Basically, I think it just means that time will heal it. And a little pain medication to help with that. But there are no quick fixes for this. So just be patient. Stretch it a little if it's not too painful, and just try not to use your leg/legs (I wasn't sure) and take some tylenol or aleve.
