Rome morphed into the Catholic church. Maybe USA will morph into a giant evangelical church, polluting the world with lies just like the Catholic did.

I believe so. Rome was so powerful and had everything! Rome was on top of the world!! and it still collapsed. The United States is going down the same road as Rome.

We are "falling" already. Think about it for a moment.

Our system of gov't, laws, millitary etc are all based on the Roman model in one way or another.

There is one differance: Rome annexed alot of the Ancient World, the US has yet to do that on the same scale as Rome did.

If we continue on our present path we will fall for the same reasons Rome did. The family is the building-block of society. As the family goes, so goes the nation. No-fault divorce and legalized abortion have accelerated our nation down a very slippery slope.

Our leaders are selling us out, refusing to listen to the citizens or solve the REAL issues that matter to the longevity of the nation, our military and various functions of our government are being privatized, we are letting our immigration situation get out of hand and letting them come in without being naturalized, most nations either despise us or do not take us seriously when we threaten them (take north Korea. They did not shut down their nuclear reactors not because we told them so, but because china put its foot down.) Our military is consistently tied down by PC and unrealistic political concerns, and most other nations are going to the Asian countries (China, Korea and Japan.) for trade and leaving us behind. Our rights are being trampled upon and the government is getting more despotic by the day. Not to mention our leaders are becoming more and more disconnected from reality and getting softer in the head each election year.

Rome collapsed for the senators became corrupted and sold out their positions for wealth and spend a lot of government funds on the Colosseum events or perform religious rituals to seem like they were doing something to appease the public instead of solving actual problems, used their power to oppress Romans instead of represent them, privatized the military by hiring entire tribes of foreign nationals as mercenaries, more Germans and such culture was outnumbering Roman culture and overwhelmed it, every nation despised them and wanted to carve Rome up one way or another, were unable to persuade or even handle the barbarians on its borders, a lot of trade was going to Asia or the middle east, the politicians would use the military for things other then their real purpose, when the republic became an empire, the emperor became despotic and would kill people on a whim or speaking out against them, and finally most of the latter emperors were either, dumb or insane and far from actual reality of how things really were in every day Rome.

Seeing the similarities, I think we are pretty much done for.

Capitalism will kill this country.

“Our rulers will become corrupt, our people careless... the time for fixing every essential right on a legal basis is [now] while our rulers are honest, and ourselves united. From the conclusion of this war we shall be going downhill. It will not then be necessary to resort every moment to the people for support. They will be forgotten, therefore, and their rights disregarded. They will forget themselves, but in the sole faculty of making money, and will never think of uniting to effect a due respect for their rights. The shackles, therefore, which shall not be knocked off at the conclusion of this war, will remain on us long, will be made heavier and heavier, till our rights shall revive or expire in a convulsion.”
-- Thomas Jefferson in “Notes on the State of Virginia”, Query 17, p. 161, 1784.

I dunno, i think Canada has alot of potential though. We have the most amount of natural resources(we still have a couple gold mines and tons of oil), plenty of space to build new cities (only like 10-15% of the country has people living on it) we make a ton of money off trades and since we pay pst/gst (15% taxes) our government is getting alot of money which keeps our country safe and with universal health care, it keeps us healthy...

As for America, you guys just need a solid president and you'll be fine. I still think Gore woulda made a better president and you'll prolly wanna wrap things up in Iraq and give them back their oil fields... it really isn't helping your reputation. Taking Iraq's oil was like taking candy from a baby... so, i dunno?

the future generations are really gonna wonder what was goin through your heads.
